Where You ARe NowATH has long been a supporter of Josh Vest and his bedroom project known as The Airplanes.  Over the years we have been treated to some truly incredible and all around delightful pop tunes.  Today I’m pleased to premier this new single called “Where You Are Now”.  Once again we are treated to some bright, sunny, and easy to get into pop music from a guy living in remote Arkansas who we all need to start paying attention too.  Josh also tells me that he might be touring soon so we have even more to look forward to.

airplanesYep, I’m still on the Airplanes kick, and I won’t complain about it as long as the music coming is as good as this catchy little number.  When listening to this jam, remind yourself that summer weather is already upon us, at least in the Lone Star State, so it makes sense that a tune like “Complacency” will fit perfectly into our current playlist.  It recalls a more modern take on Beach Boys classics, employing simple harmonies to maximize the hooks that Joshua Vest continues to use in his songwriting.  Go ahead, jam this one, then pick up the new “Young” single from the band.

The Airplanes Are Back with Another Single

airplanesOver the last few years, we’ve tried to acquaint ourselves (and encourage you to do the same) with The Airplanes.  The group is mainly the project of Joshua Vest, who just seems to sit around and writing these undeniably wonderful pop songs.  They’re straight-forward, with no need for kitschy hooks, demonstrating that he’s capable of writing great songs with little more than a good melody.  He’s got a brand new single coming out on April 15th, and we’ve got the track for you to stream below.  It’ll make your spirit smile.

Fresh New Jam from The Airplanes

theairplanesIf you haven’t heard of the Airplanes then you’re not paying attention! Take notes!  The Arkansas group has released some hyper pop tunes that’ve really won us over completely, and they’re back at it with a new tune for 2014…two actually. The Paper Hearts EP has two energetic songs that will have you tapping your toes, and hopefully keep you warm for the rest of the weekend, dreaming of warmer climes.  They’re currently offering up the EP for the cost of, well, whatever you’d like, so we encourage to rush over to their page, introduce yourself, and grab some really sweet jams.  It’s the only way we all win.

Indie Pop Delight from The Airplanes

284395_419479744767618_988455224_nI owe the discovery of this jam entirely to my friend Howard over at IPSML; he’s got some of the best taste in pop music around.  I was really surprised to hear that the The Airplanes from Fayetteville, as it’s not a sound I really associate with the area.  Here’s great things about the track: it’s on a EP titled Jingle Jangle; it alludes to Big Star in the title; it has killer vocals.  Right now, that’s just enough to go off of without even listening to the track; you know it’s going to be a hit.  But, you should really listen to it, over and over again, just like I’ve done all week long.  Happy Tuesday folks.

New Bedroom Pop From The Airplanes

While perusing some of our music submissions via the site, I came across some tasty little pop numbers from Fayetteville, AR band The Airplanes.  It was difficult to pick which song to post since the band has more than just one solid jam to choose from, but I finally settled on this one called “Paper Hearts”.  Honestly, it almost reminds of like a lo-fi version of the Beach Boys, if that makes any sense at all… It’s a great song regardless of my inability to come up with a label for it.  Interested parties should check out the band’s entire new self-titled EP available for stream over on Soundcloud.
