Chime School Share the End Video

This is not a post about vegan chili, though if you want to read a great recipe from Chime School‘s Andy, plus read our interview from last week, you can jump HERE. What is this about then, you ask? Well, it’s the third and final single from the forthcoming LP, and a continuance of growth we’ve heard in the band’s sound. Those Californian jangles are crisp and cyclical, but I couldn’t help but feel a bit of nostalgia for the Lucksmiths; the vocals have this soothing quality, sinking you right into your favorite lounge chair as you drift into the happiest sleep around. Feels as if this one would be the perfect accompaniment to your favorite cheesy rom-edy, as everyone’s left smiling in the end. Be sure to get your copy of The Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel, dropping on August 23rd via Slumberland Records.

Rock N’ Recipes: Chime School

After an excellent debut LP, Andy Pastalaniec’s Chime School are returning this summer with what many already consider an album of the year contender, particularly in the indiepop circles. We’ve already heard some great singles, like the personal favorite, “Wandering Song,” so we reached out to Andy to catch up, grab some insight, then learn about making vegan chili. Read on below, and pre-order the Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel from Slumberland Records HERE. You can stream a few songs from the new LP at the very bottom of the interview!

Chime School Share Wandering Song

Make no mistake about it, but this Chime School record headed your way is going to be atop all of our year end lists. Today, you get a bit more of a look under the covers, as the group share “Wandering Song,” with an accompanying video. The immediacy of their jangling sound is right up front; you’ll have those jangling crystalline riffs cutting right through your speakers (in the best way!). But, one thing of note that I caught onto, was the approach to the vocals; they almost have a more 90s college rock/alternative feel to them, stretching the group’s sound into something relatable, yet completely in its own category. The Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel will be out on August 23rd via Slumberland Records.

Chime School Announce the Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel

If you’re like me, constantly fawning over those jingle-jangle guitar sounds, you already know the Chime School; they’ve been one of the preeminent bands of the last several years, with a great LP and 7″ already under their belt. Today, we bring you the news that they’ll be releasing The Boy Who Ran the Paisley Hotel this August (8.23) via Slumberland Records. Our first listen begins with a slight stutter, giving you a 10 second tease before the song immediately bounds off into spring joyousness. For me, I think Andy Pastalaniec’s vocals are the winner on this single, using these slight little shifts that unfold the melody before the listener’s ears; listen to the chorus of “give your heart away/slowly to everyone,” offering this subtle twist just before punching out with a more punctuated delivery. A master craftsman of the jangle sound, Andy and Chime School are ready to deliver a knockout LP when Summer draws to a close.
