Cola Offer Pulling Quotes Video

There’s a brand new Cola record coming out next Friday, and until then, there’s several singles for you to devour, like this brand new one and it’s accompanying video. This track began with Ben Stidworthy sending his bandmates the demo, using the groove to mimic the Uillean Pipes and their steadied drone. It initially didn’t grab Tim Darcy, but if you listen, you can hear how the openness of the tune forced him to take a different vocal approach this go round; it appears on our first few listens that his voice is almost taking on the approach singing to a ballad, though it still remains distinctive in nature. The tune’s latter half really has the band flexing their musical muscles as they break down into a steady jam that abruptly ends the tune. The Gloss drops June 14th via Fire Talk.

Cola Share Albatross Single

I haven’t quite jumped on the Cola train, in terms of coverage for their latest album, but I’m always listening to Tim Darcy’s work. I love the way the new single is mixing both imagery and sound to capture the band’s approach; the black and white images that seem to be fluttering line up perfectly with the delivery of each riff…and even Darcy’s vocals at certain moments. The vocals work in their spoken fashion, and then carry just a bit of curved melody when you arrive at the chorus, just teasing you with bits of pop sensibility. Their new album The Gloss is out June 14th via Fire Talk.

Cola Release Pallor Tricks + Announce The Gloss

One had to know that Cola was just around the corner from a new release, as they’ve had several singles pop up as of late. And indeed, yesterday we found out that The Gloss is coming our way very soon; the announcement came with a brand new single, and one that certainly illustrates the fascinating structure of the band’s songwriting. Throughout the opening minutes and into its core, “Pallor Tricks” sees to work against itself sonically, with guitar lines jutting against one another like puzzle pieces you can’t force to fit. Tim Darcy settles it down in the verses, though that anxiety-inducing aura still hangs over your head. Mild melodies seep into the chorus via Darcy, perhaps one of his best parlor tricks as he’s able to turn his indifference into something very pop forward. The Gloss is out June 14th via Fire Talk Records.
