The Living Pins Drop Gold Video

I love a band that offers no bullshit. They get up on the stage, turn up the amps and just rock it out, much like you get when you catch the Living Pins. Their recorded music is much the same, as you’ll hear in their latest single. The band notes that the tune takes its roots in a bit of classic rock sound, but as the vocals hit with those stuttering riffs, there was something that felt like a rocking version of Alanis Morissette, which I actually think is really cool. The rhythm section holds the swagger, letting the edges kind of get fuzzy with psychedelic tinges and feedback while the rest of the group just give you straightforward rock. Give a listen, won’t you.

Last Week’s Jams, Today (10.17 – 10.21)

In a week where tons was going on, we hit it fairly harder than I remember. We ran a preview of Levitation (kicking off this week) by catching up with La Femme, plus we learned how to make a sweet acai bowl with Ribbon Stage. Dropped a few brand new tunes from folks like The Living Pins and Elizabeth, plus through out some encouraging album streams from Melby, Twain and more. This is a great way to catch up on all those tunes we ran, and maybe jump back in time and look at our interviews. Or, just turn it up and rock it out, cuz you know, Monday.

The Living Pins Release Chateau Video

Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz are revered Austin music scene veterans, and as Living Pins, they channel classic pop rock sounds brimming with assuredness and melodic hooks. Drums kick it off then a riff rings out, something that William Miller might claim is incendiary; the song rocks back and forth with this swaggering bravado, with little hints of 90s pop rock ringing true. With the video, you get a little bit of the playfulness from Pam and Carrie by way of home recordings, tying the band to its roots as a side project just for the two to share in some fun. If you’re enjoying this tune, we recommend you jump over to their Bandcamp Page and listen to another recent single, “Oh Yeah,” both of which were recorded with Frenchie Smith!
