The Villas are a local band that I’ve been following quite some time as one of my favorite acts in town. Today I’m pleased to offer some support for a big moment for the group as they plan to celebrate the release of their new LPLong Playerat the Mohawk this evening. The guys will be joined by fellow locals Wildcat Apollo and Waco band Loafers opening things up. Here’s a great opportunity to get out there and support one of the hardest working, and most talented, bands in town.

ATX Spotlight: New Single From The Villas

3f6e6135-d24f-4d63-b579-c334ace310f2I’ve been talking about Austin based The Villas since what seems like our very beginnings oh so long ago.  With that said, you should definitely expect me to share new tunes from the band immediately after I receive them.  Such is the case today with this brand new single “Julie”.  It seems like a more grown up sounds from the band as they’ve gone a little bit more subdued and progressive with their take on the pop genre.  Yet another great song from one of our most promising local bands.

Austin Spotlight: The Villas

villasPRESSphotoAustin band The Villas have been doing their thing in Austin now for probably as long, or longer, than we’ve been around as ATH.  We have of course been doing our best over that time to promote the band and get more people paying attention to great music in our city.  Today I’m excited to share with you not one, but two new tracks from the locals.  The first one called “Evil Ways” is a brand new single and the second entitled “Congress” was previously recorded but never formally released.  Both are stellar additions to the bands repertoire.  This is easily one of the best indie rock bands currently making music in town.

Austin Midweek Show Choices

austinmusicWeekends in Austin always make it hard to pick a good show, but this Wednesday you’ve got a lot of really incredible options to choose from. villasPRESSphotoA simple search on ATH with the terms The Villas will return quite a few hits spotlighting this Austin band.  That being said, you know that we’ve already given them the ATH stamp of approval long ago.  This new track “Natural Selection” is what I would call a classic and catchy indie-pop tune.  You won’t hear any crazy sort of experimental things going on here, just some great rockin’ pop sounds that will have you chanting along after a few listens.  Hope you enjoy.

villasPRESSphotoThe Villas are an Austin band that have been working hard in this town for awhile now, but have been relatively quiet over the last year or so.  As a fan of the band since their inception, I was excited to get a taste of some new music the guys have been working on.  This track “Life Goes On” is part of a new two song single from the locals that can be streamed over on soundcloud or you can download the one song below.  When discussing straight up pop music in Austin, it’s rare that you find a band that can create tunes such as these.  Well done sirs.

New Music From The Villas

I was pretty pumped a few days ago when Austin band The Villas sent me their recently completed new EP Century of Tries.  They caught my attention just about a year ago with their excellent tune “Spyglass” and I’ve been waiting to hear news of new music ever since.  Well here’s a taste of that new music with this brand new song ready for the radio “Century of Tries”.  As previously mentioned, this band have a great post-punk/power pop sound that is a major untapped market in Austin.  If you dig this on, check out the band’s new EP streaming for free over on soundcloud.  These guys are sure to be making waves in this town soon enough.

A recent Austin find to us ATH staffers, The Villas, are playing a great local show at Scoot Inn tonight.  Joining the Austin kids on stage are fellow recent ATH faves Young Girls from Houston and Austinites Magnet School.  It’s rumored that some ATH kids may be on hand so we hope to see you all there.
