Jana Horn Shares Final Single from The Window is the Dream

On Friday you’ll be able to grab the brand new record from our friend Jana Horn, who we’ve championed since her early days as part of Reservations (and solo work!). So, there’s one last single to hand out before the record drops on Friday, and it might be my favorite piece on the whole of the LP. The mix here has her voice magnificently sparkling in the very front, with the guitar work clearly taking its roll in the distance; I love the way her voice seems to float between notes, almost drifting between tones in mere seconds. Every little bit of accompaniment also helps, all the way to the twinkling piano/key notes that flutter in and out. Please go buy Jana’s new LP; the Window is the Dream is out on Friday via No Quarter Records.

Jana Horn Shares the Dream

The latest single from our friend Jana Horn was everywhere yesterday, but seeing as we love her work and craft, we’ve got to do our part and make sure our three readers also are aware of it. For me, the arrangement of this song really won out from the start; I love the careful twang of the strings as the drum quietly rolls over the hills and into the song, slowly plodding along as various other elements fill in the gaps. Jana’s fragile vocal delivery is always enchanting, and according to Horn, the song came across “as a sample to the whole,” referencing the song’s place in the arc of her new record. Don’t be a dummy; grab The Window is the Dream on April 7th via No Quarter. I’ve also included an image of me asking Jana how awesome the new record was going to be, but you’ll have to grab it to find out her response…maybe on Bandcamp Friday.

Jana Horn Announces The Window is the Dream

It seems like the world has finally caught on to Jana Horn, and you’re all the better for it…as we pointed out years and years ago. Today we got news that our old pal has announced an entirely new LP, The Window is the Dream. With it, we also get this enchanting lead single that carries over the striking prowess that was visible on Optimism. In the musical element here, you get this openness that’s perfect for Horn’s storytelling; the strings and guitar work build a layer of vibrance, but they never stray over the line, instead letting Jana use her vocals to draw us inside. Her voice feels delicate, like it could trail off into time and never be heard again, but in that sense, it’s spellbinding, keeping your ear pinned to every word. I expect rave reviews from the new LP; it’s out on No Quarter Records on April 7th.
