Last Week’s Jams (10.6 – 10.10)

It was a fun week of super underground jams, though I made sure to throw in some bangers from Jay Som, Joyer and Radioactivity to kind of grab at the masses! I was really excited by the return of Hadda Be, as their new post-punk jam is opening up the playlist; I likewise was stoked to see Cistern drop new of their debut album too! Caught up late to KanKan and Pocket Full of Crumbs recent split 7″, so gave both some special love this week. Be sure that you power-pop fans check in on that Trash Man tune hanging out in the middle of the playlist, but really, not a track you’ll want to skip on this, so dig in!

Trash Man Share Cool Until It’s Not

Tony Molina better watch his back, as Trash Man are sliding into that 1 minute power-pop territory; I think there’s both as long as they keep cranking out infectious earworms for us all. “Cool Until It’s Not” jumps right in with a grinding guitar swells, met my Alex Majaverian’s voice. Those vocals seem to climb the stairs along the way, tip-toeing along the melody as the song rises to meet your ears. The fade out into the refrain of “cool until it’s not” is met with some swollen keys too, buoying the hook and making sure you come back for more. This is the title track to the new Cool Until It’s Not LP, which is out this Friday via YK Records.

Brash Pop Rock from Trash Man

I know that we’re all currently swooning over neo-grunge acts, but while I get the fad, I’m really loving the continuance of great big guitar rock, like this new Trash Man single. The verses fit into the modern mold, almost quietly working the riffs into a frenzy, but the explosion in the chorus is where its at for me. The vocals hit the perfect soaring pop rock notes, not too far off from a Rivers Cuomo impression (when we all still adored him), so you can take a bit of punk and mash it up with just classic guitar songwriting. Look for this track on the Cool Until It’s Not EP, which is out October 10th via YK Records.

Last Week’s Jams, Today (8.15 – 8.19)

Is it just me, or does it seem like there’s an overabundance of great music coming out as of late? I mean, I fell in love with at least a half dozen new tracks last week, and that’s just the one’s I was able to get up on the site. At the end of the day, I’m still blown away by that Mo Troper tune; I was a fan before but these last two tracks are out of this world good. Ribbon Stage dropped another hit we couldn’t escape running, plus there’s some old ATH standbys like Michael Beach, the Beths and Free Time (all Oceanic acts no less!). Press play, and sink into that Monday vibe.

New Double Single From Trash Man

With a band name like Trash Man, it’s going to be hard to drum up much information other than the sparse release details and whatnot via bandcamp pages and internet searches. In reality though, who needs information and silly details when you’re releasing songs like this new one “Are You Glad I’m Gone?”. It’s a very last 90s brand of indie rock for fans of early Weezer or even a more straightforward version of Pavement. The rocker A-side also comes with a B-side featuring a more indie pop ballad which plays nicely off of the focus track. Stay tuned for more from Trash Man out of Nashville, TN.

For now, check out several more jams on the Trash Man bandcamp page.
