New Track From Ultimate Painting

ultimateWe’ve been fans of Ultimate Painting for a little while now, so naturally we’d like to share with you this new track from the band called “Break The Chain.” On this number, you get the same kind of laid back dreamy pop that you’re used to from the band, but you’ll find that’s not a bad thing at all. This smooth number that will have you swaying to and fro comes from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore record, Green Lanes  which will be released August 7th via Trouble In Mind.

Fresh Tunes from Dick Diver

dickI fucking thought the hits from Wednesday were solid, but I’m stoked with the tunes I’ve got for you today, especially this new Dick Diver tune.  The Aussie outfit has long been one of my favorites (I might have even been their first US supporter, maybe!).  They’ve just offered up this great new single, which actually shows the band with a poppier and more forceful tone, which could come from the fact that the band is working with lyrics co-written by poet Michael Farrell; it could lead to some incredible things on their new LP, Melbourne, Florida (I’d like to state for the record that I once drank too much Kentucky Deluxe by the case in that odd beach town). The album will see the light of day in early March via their long-standing label Chapter Music and new US rep, Trouble In Mind Records.

Brand New Album from Proto Idiot

protoEver since I first heard Proto Idiot via his Trouble In Mind 7″ I’ve been hooked on the sound he’s been creating.  He’s changed things up here and there, but there’s still a very elemental bit of punk rock that comes through your speakers when you press play.  There’s a tinge of garage rock, but things are definitely of the more refined sort; I might even hear a bit of J Reatard in the vocals on this new album, Also Known As.  If you’re looking for something to stream today at work, give yourself a few spins with this release; you’ll be enjoying the next 20 something minutes of your life.

Estrogen Highs are Finally Back

I loyally follow Trouble in Mind Records, but one of their acts I had forgotten about was Estrogen Highs, who released the very great Irrelevant Future a few years back.  With all the other releases of the world, this one slowly glided beneath my radar detection skills, but I’ve been jamming it for a little over a week.  They band seems subdued to a certain extent on this single below, though they’re still utilizing a bit of proper noisy discord.  Still, the heart of the song has this relaxed vibe that really sucks you in; plus I love to dream that this songs is solely about the appreciation for socks. You can grab their latest LP, Hear Me On the Number Station, in your local shop now.

Sorry I Missed This: New Paperhead Tune

TIM083.Paperhead.Africa-Avenue-LP.jktIt seems to me like The Paperhead of this great ability to always weave new influences in sounds into their works, yet still sound roughly the same.  Just a week or so back, they tossed up this brand new track, and it’s definitely filled with more of a 60s vibe.  But, that style was always in their songwriting, it just lurked in the shadows, hanging out behind the reverb and psychedelic touches.  Aside from the lasers fighting off the martians in the background, this new tune has a bit more of a straightforward approach.  I’ll be interested in what they have to offer on their new LP, Africa Avenue, which Trouble in Mind Records is putting out on November 11th.

Trickling Pop from Ultimate Painting

paintUltimate Painting, the group comprised of members of Veronica Falls and Mazes is back again with a brand new single; it’s one that shows their relaxed side to pop construction, which is one of the reasons I’ve really been enjoying listening to the group’s debut.  It’s the sort of pop music that allows you to chill out, searching your ears for the melodies you know are lurking within; you’ll even find a nice little solo, as seen in the track below.  Their self-titled album will be out for the masses on October 28th via Trouble in Mind Records…packing that release day full of good tunes.

Austin Spotlight: Espectrostatic Ready New LP

whorrorAlex Cuervo is probably best known around Austin for his work with Hex Dispensers, but the last year has seem him quietly making a name for himself under the Espectrostatic moniker.  It’s a largely instrumental project with a hint of horror aspect (not horror punk, mind you) built into both the sonic element as well as the titles of the songs.  And don’t forget the artwork; the artwork for his pieces are always visually stimulating.  He’s got a full LP titled Escape From Witchtropolis coming this fall via Trouble in Mind Records, and if you live in Austin or the world beyond, it should be on your radar.  The title track is alive below.

Synth Pop from Holograma via Trouble in Mind Records

hologramsLong the bastion of incredible psych rock, Trouble in Mind Records has really begun to branch out over the last few years, focusing on bringing you great music all around.  Their latest hits from Germ House and Ultimate Painting have really got me excited, but I’m digging this piece from Spanish producer Holograma. Press discusses the touches of Spacemen 3 and like-minded acts, and I can hear that, but I’m thinking of this weird blend where F&M meets the realm of Stereolab.  Anyone else get that? The label will be releasing Waves on October 28th, with more great releases to wrap up the end of the year lined-up already.

Take A Listen to Germ House

artworks-000088412092-v8e2g6-t500x500Some labels always surprise you with the music they’re able to get their hands on, which is why I feel like I can always count on the folks over at Trouble In Mind Records to turn me onto something good, like Germ House.  The song opens up fairly calmly, though I particularly latched onto the vocals.  While it might seem to stay in place, there’s a jump for the chorus, picking up the pace in the track.  It’s a pretty great tune, putting the group on my radar, thankfully.  You can pick up their new album, Showing Symptoms, on August 26th from the label.
