This is fine.
I didn’t really know what to expect on the evening of the Dent May show. There were tons of great bands playing, both local and traveling, so I wondered if people would turn out for Dent; turn out they did, buoyed by travelers from Ole Miss…leaving him with a home away from home show.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve been on the fence since Dent May changed things up, musically. But, having listened to his latest song, I think I’m starting to come on board with his new sound. For one, the guitars here are definitely hitting the spot; they’ve got that stutter-step jangle like some early Orange Juice hits. Then, Dent calmly swoons in with his casino troubadour croon; it all fits pretty nicely together. This is the second single from Dent May’s forthcoming record, Warm Blanket, which has an August 27th release date from Paw Tracks.

Dent May is a musician who has long been a favorite around these parts as we’ve consumed and enjoyed every release throughout his short career. Well Dent’s returning in 2013 with a new album entitled Warm Blanket hitting stores on August 27th via Paw Tracks. Prior to that date, you can find new single “Born Too Late” below to enjoy in your free time. It’s more of a return to the lounge act pop music that Dent originally started his career with and blew up in the indie scene.
