It’s Friday. Friday’s the new Tuesday, but does anyone even remember Tuesday release days anymore. So, here’s a bunch of stuff I jammed today, and I recommend for you to jam as well. Plus, threw in one of RayRay’s favorite bands too.

There’s only a few more months of releases before all those heralded year-end lists pop up everywhere, so I wanted to point you at an album that my fly under your radar: Weeds by The Creepy Crawlies. On the album’s title track, you get the perfect fragility in the vocals from Chris Donlon, which really is one of the reasons I keep replaying the song. The space behind Donlon’s voice gets filled, whether it be ebbs of distortion or electronic blips, you get this feeling of natural movement throughout, much like the record as a whole. I love the way this opens up as almost a typical ballad, vocals and strum, before it blossoms before your ears. Good news for you, Weeds is out tomorrow! Grab it HERE.
Technically, our little break’s not quite over, but it’s time to get back into the music game with some things I hope you will dig, like the latest single from our friend A. Sinclair. I’ve always enjoyed the band’s work, but there’s something really special in this song. It’s like the urgency has been sort of pulled back, gradually letting the guitar notes sharply twist and turn their way through your ears; there’s even a slight twang to let the notes sort of hang out on the wind. It’s a rocker, but in the casual sense, letting Aaron’s voice work this calm drawl work beneath the brightness of the guitars. Let’s hope there’s more from A. Sinclair as this new year kicks on.
