Not going to lie…it’s been a minute since we’ve put on a proper show during SXSW season. Sure, we have the annual SOTO vs ATH Party, and that’s a blast, but that’s a team effort with our friend John Laird. So, this year, the opportunity arose to bring back our Welcome to the Jangle, as there were quite a few jangling and adjacent acts coming into town. So, here we are, announcing its return at 29th Street Block Party Day 3; it’ll be 18 of the rippingest, raddest bands in town. We’ve got bands from Japan, Australia, the UK, Canada and the US all gracing the three stages we’ve got. There’s a rad playlist attached below so you can sample the super rad tunes we’ve got coming! SxSW 2016: Welcome to the Jangle

Thank you, Spider House. Thank you, Mother Nature. Thank you, bands.

The weather was absolutely perfect. We were given blue skies, the occasional cloud, a lovely breeze to pair with some of the best music heard at SxSW. I mean, Diet Cig, The Spook School, Beverly and Brothers In Law to name a few, and add splendid local talent like Summer Salt, Rose Selavy, Ramesh and an Austin reunion of Literature. How can I dare say there was even more awesome?

Brand New Fear of Men

Well, it’s Tuesday and I have my track of the week: “Island” by Fear of Men. Their new album, Fall Forever, is being released by Kanine on June 3rd, but between them, expect the band to hit it hard…including a whole bunch of SXSW dates (including the Welcome to the Jangle party). I think my favorite thing about this track is the rolling of the drums…it’s a given that I love Jessica’s voice. While they’ve been raved about by man, I hope this new album solidifies the group as one of the more solid groups in the world. Consistent output that’s consistently good.

ATX Popfest Presents…Welcome to the Jangle @ Spider House (3.16)

SXSW is nearing, and ATH has been working with our friends at ATX Popfest to bring you what we know is THE place to be on Wednesday, March 16th. Welcome to the Jangle! Those of you who are pop fans need to come over to Spider House on that day, starting at 12 PM. It’s ALL AGES, and will go all day and night…filled with some of the best talent coming into town. Here’s a quick list of who all is playing: Summer Salt, Hockey Dad, Pinact, Mercury Girls, Wildhoney, Brothers In Law, Beverly, Expert Alterations, Rose Selavy, Fear of Men, September Girls, Diet Cig, Spook School, Dead Stars, Hibou, Tennis System, Literature, and Ramesh.

We’ll have more details as we get closer, but wanted you to plan on taking the day off to spend it with us.
