Wilding At It Again

Over the years I’ve grown to love the standout indie pop sounds of my Melbourne based mate Wilding. It’s rather confusing as to why he has yet to become a household name as the Wilding brand has pumped out hit after hit for close to ten years. This new joint, “Swipe Right”, shows a guy at his absolute height of pop song hit making. It’s a touch quirky, fun, and just one helluva catchy song. Wilding will be releasing this song as part of a full length LP called The Death of Foley’s Mall due out on October 2nd via Half a Cow.

Killer New Track From Wilding

Having been damn near 5 years since we last heard from our Melbourne friend Wilding, I was quite excited to receive some new music from him a few days ago. His latest effort, “Speed King of the Commonwealth” is more of a loud, indie rock pop song worthy of dancing and head banging. It reminds me of early singles from Kaiser Chiefs with it’s chant inducing “la la las” and breezy guitar sound. This song is out now on all formats via Half Cow Records.

Only the beginning, Wilding is currently hard at work on his third album entitled The Death of Foley’s Mall coming sometime later this year.

Nice Pop Tune From Mirror Test

Mirror Test_Washed Up_cover imageMany of you may remember us talking about Melbourne based band Wilding several times over the last few years. Well Justin from the band recentlyalerted me to some new music he’s making under the moniker Mirror Test with several otherfriends in Melbourne based bands. As a preview of this new start up, the band shared with me this new single entitled “Washed Up”. One can clearly hear the brit pop influences here with gleaming guitars and hushed vocals. It’s bright, jangly, and perfect for your morning sunshine.

Justin has told me the band hopes to get their act together soon and release a proper EP. Stay tuned.

Catchy Pop Tune from Wilding

I’m definitely in a pop mood this week; I need a little skip in my step as I bounce into the summer.  When lurking on the usual Australian zines, I ran across this excellent track from Wilding, which definitely has shades of classic 60s Californian pop.  The group, which is mostly the project of one man, just released an album titled Bird’s Bread via Laughing Outlaw, and each track is just as uplifting as the next.  This is definitely getting my attention, so I hope you share my enjoyment when you hear this track.
