More Pop from Ela Minus

Just a few weeks ago I was introduced to Ela Minus, and we’re already back again with a really nice bit of pop music for Friday. Personally, I love the restraint that is shown in Gabriela Jimeno’s work; she could easily drop the bass or pump the electronic touches into the mix, but she holds back, delightfully. It creates this spectacular emotional appeal that reminds me of the feather floating through Forrest Gump, airy and dreamy all at once. Her next release, Adapt, will be out on February 17th via Yebo Music, ready to carry you off.

Synth Pop from Ela Minus

In talking about her music and journey , Ela Minus (Gabriela Jimeno) says she’s enjoyed living between two worlds, Colombia and the US. One can only imagine that such a journey leaves you in a contemplative world, which is precisely the note her new single hits. It hits an understated note, soft and airy, floating in the ether, much like I imagine her story. This piece comes from her latest EP, which is part of the musical trilogy she’s put together for listeners. Titled Adapt, this one hits on February 17th via Yebo Music, offering you your own musical journey. Go ahead, take it.

Late to the Party: Jack + Eliza

15389_868043193280575_9085091377776735403_nSometimes we get busy and sometimes we miss some truly superb music as a result.  Jack + Eliza is one of my recent brain farts and today I hope to remedy such an atrocity.  The band is a  young duo hailing from NYC who craft a throwback style of pop music featuring a folk inspired, harmony laden sound.  This single “Oh No” should cause you to fall in love with the duo.  Enjoy.

Jack + Eliza will drop their debut album, Gentle Warnings, on August 7th via Yebo Music.

New Tune from Pains of Being Pure at Heart

untitledPrintWhat a week for Pains of Being Pure at Heart.  First they leaked news of a new album with a short video, then comes this gem of a tune.  It’s definitely a departure, musically speaking, though the band still seems to have their finger on the pulse of pop music.  My ears hear bits of early Stars, which which definitely has me excited, as that’s one of my favorite acts.  It seems at this point that they’ve cleared out the distortion-related shoegaze element, leaving you with a delectable little ear treat. Their new album, Days of Abandon, comes out on April 22nd via Yebo Music.

Let Miniature Tigers Brighten Your Day

miniature-tigers_320It’s been quite some time since I’ve heard anything from pop hit makers Miniature Tigers.  So long in fact, you could’ve told me that the band was no longer making music at this point.  With all that aside, I was happy to find out the band was indeed still making music and have a new LP planned for later this fall.  First taste of this new album comes our way in a summer inspired, fun tune called “Swimming Pool Blues”.  I doubt any of you people out there can deny the upbeat, fun, pop qualities here creating a memorable track worthy of repeat listens.

We will eagerly await new album Cruel Runnings due out on May 27th via Yebo Music.
