Casual Hex Share the System Video

You know the instant the guitars ring out in your ear that this Casual Hex track is going to be a jam; it’s dissonant and sharp, setting up the march of the song. Nonchalant vocals run right into the mix, soon overlapped by backing vocals, all the while the guitars dangerously cut away at the cones of your speakers. While the system operates and swirls with simplicity, the structural elements are buoyed by this brilliant bit of artistry that makes the track seem so much larger and more urgent. Definitely excited to hear the rest of their forthcoming Zig Zag Lady Illusion II, out June 13th via Youth Riot Records.

Wimps Announce City Lights LP

It’s been a hot minute since we last heard from Wimps, but they waste no time in getting stuck right in our rotation with the announcement of a fresh new record on the horizon. Like many of us, the pandemic hit hard, but it did bring with it some special moments, like motherhood for Rachel Ratner. This song just rips right in, kicking off with a furiously pounding rhythm that rushes the song through your speakers as quick as can be! Lyrically, the song celebrates being a mom, while trying to find that balance between parenting and artistic creativity. As a dad, I can definitely relate to the need to find that balance! The band will be releasing City Lights on October 13th via Youth Riot Records.

Enumclaw Shares Free Drop Billy Video

Every time I listen to Enumclaw it just feels so freeing. There’s no bullshit or pretense, its just the band kind of banging out their own rock n’ roll brand, falling somewhere in between the fuzzy riffs of Wavves and any number of post-punk bands. Listening through to their latest single, it’s all about that bass line, bobbing and weaving beneath a wall of distortion as Aramis Johnson exclaims “I don’t wanna be a loser.” So sure, the band has goals, aims, but they’re also coming to the table with this tenacity that says, here’s our heavy rock tunes, and we’re just going to do it on our terms in our way…and right now, that seems like a whole lot of fun. Their EP, Jimbo Demo is out on April 30th via Youth Riot Records.
