ACL Interview: Waters

watersHere we are peeps, ACL is now a few short days away and I hope everyone is ready and raring to go in the heat.  The ATH crew is certainly amped for the weekend while we struggle to survive the long work week ahead prior to all the fun times.  Today I’m excited to be continuing our ACL coverage with a nice interview from ATH approved band Waters.  Leading man and creator of the group Van Perszaowski offers up the responses.  Hit the jump for more.

Active Child Give Us Something New

Active ChildActive Child has always had this weird place in my musical psyche, though I’m not sure where that place is, something about the music just hits a chord with me.   Today yet another tune just hit the internet called “1999” and I find myself entranced all over again.  The song is a hushed beauty, an ode to a loved one, that should evoke some major feeling in all of us.  Can’t say enough good things about this one.

Active Child has a new album in the works entitled Mercy due out in June on Vagrant.

Impressive New Track From Waters

avatars-000070057974-bskxc8-t500x500Stop whatever you’re doing right now and hit play on this incredible new song by Waters.  Do it.  Now.  This one would definitely be called the opposite of a slow burner as it immediately draws you in with loud, power pop tendencies.  When the track ends, I’m finding that I want to hit play again as fast as I can.  Great tune from what is sure to be a great release this fall.

This track appears on a new EP entitled It All Might be Okay due out October 14th on Vagrant.

Show Preview: School of Seven Bells @ Mohawk (4/13)

Date Friday the 13th
Location Mohawk
Doors 800 pm
Tickets $10 from Frontgate

If you’re not worn out from the ridiculous amount of shows in town this week, we’ve got one more we think you should consider as we head into the weekend.  School of Seven Bells have been making dreamy electronic pop for some time, and they recently released their third LP, Ghostory, on Vagrant at the end of February.  Now that the band is a duo, you better expect a killer performance from the band; we personally vouch for their shows. And, if you’re smart, you should get there early to see Exitmusic, one of my favorite groups at the moment.  So, if you’re up to it, this will be a special show worthy of your $10. Be sure to say hi to our photographer Brian Gray; he’s been living at the Mohawk all week.

Catchy New Jam from Reptar

We’ve been all about Reptar for quite some time, and they seem to have gained a huge fan base in a short time.  So, we’re happy to offer up another new track from their forthcoming album on Vagrant, Body Faucet, which comes out on May 1st.  As you’d expect, there’s huge hooks to get your energy flowing and your feet dancing.  You’ve gotta love this sort of track, living somewhere along the lines of a punky dance number.  This is the sort of track that huge stars are made from, so give it a chance.
