SXSW Interviews: Bear in Heaven

Just before Bear in Heaven releases their newest album, I Love You It’s Cool, they’ll be making their way down to Austin to party with us for SXSW. Well, not us, but you, and all the rest of the festival goers.  They’ve been remixing records and throwing out hits for a couple of years now, so you better get out there and enjoy! Thanks to Grace for helping set up the interview with Adam!

ATH:  What is the most challenging thing about being a band during SXSW or another similar festival?

Adam: Load in/Change over times. We have a lot of gear and stuff to plug in. Stress levels on par with open heart surgery. Well, not always, but sometimes.

ATH:  What are some tips you would offer newbie bands to survive during SXSW or just in general on tour?

Adam: Drink water.

ATH:  What music are you guys currently jamming in your tour bus?

Adam: The new Here We go Magic, Test House, and Damien Jurado records. All wildly different and beautiful. IT’S TOO LATE, FOR US!

ATH:  Who wins the Euro Cup this summer? It’s okay to tell us you hate soccer.

Adam: ROLL TIDE ROLL

ATH:  Due to licensing, you’ve had to change the band name, or else you get sued! What do you change it to?

Adam: That’s easy… Adventure Hippies.

ATH:  It’s fairly early in the musical year. What’s in store for your band before the world ends in December?

Adam: We will tour til the world blows up, and beyond.

ATH:  What’s the best pre-show beverage for the band? Let’s get brand specific! And, what’s the worst free shot we can buy you at SXSW?

Adam: We like cold beer, also a lil Mezcal is nice. Worst free shot? I dunno.. maybe a Jim Nance? (well vodka, served neat with a salted rim) tastes like a swimming pool.

ATH:  Being out on tour, what’s the one thing you miss about being back at home?

Adam: Jon and Joe miss their ladies. Adam misses steady income.

ATH:  Best band of all time is….?

Adam: Bodega Sushi
