A Sure Hit From Dave Depper

The danceable tracks just don’t seem to stop coming today and the latest groove is from Dave Depper and features the lovely vocals from Laura Gibson to help out. “Your Voice On The Radio” packs a lovely blend of electro pop and dueling vocals with a proper build up and hooky chorus to get you singing along. From the start you get pulsating synths that bubble under and grow the tension with aid from some psychedelic guitar riffs. Of course you can’t ignore the crisp vocal aid from Laura Gibson that makes the track really stand out in terms of electro pop. Take a listen and get stoked for Dave Depper’s upcoming release, Emotional Freedom Technique, which will be out June 9th via Tender Loving Empire.

Fresh Synthpop From Wild Arrows

Wild Arrows, out of Brooklyn, will be releasing their new album, Dreamlike Dream, this Friday and they’ve just shared a track from that release to catch your ear. “Alphabet Girl” is a slow moving synth drenched rock beast, which pulsates heavy from start to finish. There’s a nice even beat to the jam that may induce head bobbing. Personally, I like the way the tender vocals really contrast with the harsher synth sounds.Check it out below.

Jam This New Chastity Belt

Chastity Belt is everybody’s favorite, but I’ll be honest, this new single is perhaps my favorite track they’ve recorded to date! From the moment the guitars playfully bounced their way into the speakers I was hooked. Then the group offers up this cool vocal indifference that dominates the front of the mix as you’re tapping your toes and cymbals crash behind you. It’s an energetic pop ditty, and the fact that the band maintains that for over 5 minutes is a feat unto itself. I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone is going to hit stores on June 2nd via Hardly Art.

New Music from Passion Pusher

Admittedly, there’s a small market for the sort of music Passion Pusher‘s crafting, but perhaps that’s why the Scot’s music is so intriguing. He’s clearly out there to write songs for little more purpose than allowing his musical gifts to escape into the world. You’ll hear that the recording is a touch murky, almost as if its coming via tin cans and string. Still, in a super brief amount of time, James Gage is capable of crafting this infectious melody that stays with you long after the song’s gone passed. His new collection, Aquarium, will be released by Song, By Toad on June 16th to eagerly awaiting pop fans.

Jeff Burke Is Back with Lost Balloons

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Jeff Burke, be it in Radioactivity or Marked Men, but his little known project, Lost Balloons also has a soft spot. Quietly, this new single popped up on Dirtnap Records soundcloud, and lo and behold the band have a new records ready on June 16th. Like all Burke’s tracks, the immediacy of his pop sensibility connects, this time with a simple ring of quick acoustic guitar. Burke’s voice has a familiarity that I love, but it also seems to maintain this perfect youthfulness that many artists try to move beyond. Dammit I love pop music; I hope I love Hey Summer when it hits this June.

Stream New EP From Field Medic

Kevin Patrick makes some beautiful music under the recording moniker Field Medic. His music brings to mind ATH approved bands like Gambles or a stripped down version of Mountain Goats. It’s clear that his music is recorded with a lo-fi sense about things which makes the music feel more intimate and personal. If you’d like a large sample size of his music, you can stream his new EP below. It was just released via Danger Collective Records and can be purchased in cassette form or digitally on bandcamp.

Suspirians Announce New Album

Pretty sure that everyone in Austin is just out to kick a whole lot of ass this year; it seems we’ve got one great release after another, and you can add Suspirians to that list. Stuttering guitars ring loudly from the get go, as drums pound and the song takes off; it spins in a heavy space direction before the vocals begin to spin around in the mix. The group plays around with some noise, and even the volume levels, always returning to full force. It’s a trashing take-no-prisoners jam, leading one to expect that Ti Bon Ange is going to be yet another top notch hit for the local scene here; it hits in June via Super Secret Records.

Meet Sam Turner and the Cactus Cats

When you listen to Sam Turner & the Cactus Cats, it’s going to be hard to not feel the Southern vibe in the vocal tones. But, don’t just file this away under Texas folk/Americana, as the group seems to owe far more debt to indie traditions than it might first appear. I love the way the song has this circular feel, sweeping you away to tap your toes as guitar notes shoot off into the distance and the song returns to its steady stomp. Plus, the melody of the verse as Sam sings “I belong with no one but you” is sublimely memorable. This song is the title track to the band’s debut LP, Wanna Be Your Man, which is being released on June 9th via Roofus and Friends; there’s a release show on the same day in Houston if you’re in that neck of the woods!

Stunner From Big Thief

It’s no surprise that Brooklyn’s Big Thief keep rolling out the hits as they approach the release of their sophomore album. The group has been hard at work making a name for themselves and when they release singles like “Shark Smile,” you can’t help but fall for them. This track is as devastating as it is gorgeous–Adrianne Lenker’s smoky vocals and the dark lyrics pack a heavy one-two emotive punch. The song lingers in this simmering swirl of folk rock with piercing electric guitar that throws a little snarl in there. Take a listen below.

Capacitywill be out June 9 via Saddle Creek Records. Pre-order it here.

Siberian Traps Give You 80s Rock With A Modern Spin

Siberian Traps, a four piece located in Fort Worth, have just released a new single called “Outtasight,” which deserves your attention. The guitar work and synth presence early on calls back to 80s rock, but the vocals and the later riffs allude more to the indie rock of today. The vocals are layered and high in the mix, doubling up on the intensity of the guitar/synth combo. Truly a building track, you’ll want to stick around or the end of this one for the full jam.

This track is a single from the band’s upcoming release, Indicator, which will be out June 9– look out for that.
