ACL Gimme 5: The Wombats

Austin City Limits weekend one wrapped up on a high note Sunday evening and we have some incredible coverage coming very soon. Prior to our full recap, let’s have another playlist featuring ACL bands which will hopefully improve your dragging Monday. My second ACL Festival featured playlist comes from Liverpool based indie rock band The Wombats. The boys made some interesting choices from the entire lineup and hopefully you can enjoy this short five song playlist. Hit the jump for words from the band and for the playlist.

The Breeders – Cannonball

This track reminds me about this indie club in Liverpool we used to go to called Le Bateau. Definitely had a lot of hazy nights dancing to this track!

St.Vincent – Los Ageless

I really like the new St.Vincent album and we actually ended up covering this track for our recent Spotify session!

Deftones – My Own Summer

As a teenager I had a summer job in a pharmaceutical factory and we were always listing to this track and album whilst packing nasal spray.

Phoenix – Too Young

This is the first Phoenix song I ever heard and it was one of the tracks soundtracking one of my favourite films, ‘Lost in Translation’.

Wilderado – Sorrow

Our good friends at San Francisco-based label Bright Antenna release this bands music, and this song has been stuck in my head since we were in the Bay Area a few days ago.

Luckily you will have another opportunity to see The Wombats if you are attending weekend two as they play again on Saturday at 2:15pm on the American Express stage.
