ACL Gimme 5 – Fidlar

Happy ACL day to all! Many of you are probably heading out the door soon for the first day of weekend one, but before you do, I’ve got another Gimme 5 playlist to jump start your morning. I’m very excited about this one because it comes from a personal favorite of mine, punk rockers FIDLAR. And hey, they play today! So hit the jump for some tunes hand picked by the band.

All song picks were made by FIDLAR drummer Max Kuehn.

1. The Cure – “Grinding Halt”

This whole record rules but this song sticks out as one of my favorites. This record came out in 1979 and set the tone for the whole next decade.

2. Lizzo – “Truth Hurts”

Our friend and collaborator Ricky Reed produced this track, and its just a great song. Really cool elements throughout the song, and the lyrics are hilarious and heart felt.

3. Denzel Curry – “Chief Forever”

I dont know what it is about this song. His flow is really cool and rhythmic and it just keeps me coming back.

4. Third Eye Blind – “How’s it Going to Be”

Come on! That guitar line?

5. James Blake – “Unluck”

This song is so cool. The way the feel changes sets an uneasy tone that is really hard to do. I saw him play this live when this record came out and there were 0 tracks and everything was played live.
