Power Pop from Curling

There is so much going on in this new Curling tune that you sort of have to peel it layer by layer, uncovering new little bits and pieces along way. When it opens with this synthesized wash you’re momentarily thinking you might be on some space-aged journey, and you’re not entirely far off on that one…though they quickly push into brilliant power pop moments; there’s something in the craft that’s both 90s alt rock and 2000s indie…like Ash partying with Grandaddy. Then, as the tune progresses, they pull back some of the covers on their craft, leaving you with these subtle melodies before smashing forth with more pop hooks.
