Free Wee Show @ Holy Mountain (Tonight) – Grape St.
Free Week is here, and that means I should prepare you for the great show we’re putting on at Holy Mountain on Monday, January 5th. We’ve got Slow, Jonly Bonly, Shivery Shakes, Grape St. and also Young Girls. I’m going to toss out a little love to each band every day before the show, in hopes you’ll come join us. Also, don’t forget that our show is also a celebration bash for Pooneh Ghana, local photographer extraordinaire. Don’t forget to buy tons of records and t-shirts to make this worth it for all the bands. So, here’s a bit on Grape St.
Grape St. has made their presence known in Austin throughout the last couple of years, bringing jangling garage pop to every corner of our fair city. The group’s made up of members of some of Austin’s greatest heavy-hitters, past and present: Harlem, Plantation, and A. Sinclair. We put out their debut, A Date With You, and the LP was so successful in rock n’ roll circles, that they’ve been picked up by Burger Records for their next LP, which should hit in Spring 2015. Curtis’ guitar work keeps your toes tapping, Aaron Sinclair’s drumming is spot-on, Carlton brings style and added vocals emphasis and Brendan Bond (it’s also his birthday celebration) brings the good looks, so you’ll never leave their let down. Join us as we watch these guys bring down the house in a way that only the Grape Streeterz can.
