Gus Baldwin Drops the Pesticide Song

Through the first few singles and his album with the Sketch last year, Gus Baldwin has brought us gasoline fueled jams, bringing a garage rock sensibility with a dose of his own flair. But, the newest single from his forthcoming solo LP illustrates the artist beneath the surface; it’s a delicate bit of Casio-induced psychedelia, with the synthetic notes operating to create this dense cavern of anti-melody that stretches across the tune. Baldwin works his voice in a funhouse style, creeping around the notes with care in a way you’d expect from the ghost of Ozzy; it’s harrowing and dangerous, but dedicated to the faintest little hook. Think you’re really going to enjoy Gus’ solo record; it drops on October 24th via Permanent Teeth.
