Have Another From The Berries

Another day, another fantastic Seattle band I am currently enamored with. Today my words and praise are focused on the previously posted about The Berries, who have yet another tune for us to enjoy. This one is called “Passing Scene” and treats us again to a beautiful bit of slow-brooding, American style sounds with just the right amount of brightness to keep things interesting. This is a band all of us will be talking about when new album Berryland drops on September 20th. Run for Cover has pre-orders up now.

Tincho Do It Again

Man I think this Seattle band Tincho is really doing something special right now and will likely be growing in fame over the coming months. The band’s soon to be released album, Home Today, will be looked upon as one of the best and most progressive full lengths of the year. Their sound takes old familiar indie rock sounds like Foreign Born or Beach Fossils, and then puts a more modern twist on things with a mature, yet energetic vibe. Don’t believe me? While you can’t get your hands on the full album just yet, today the band shared another single from the record called “Jet-Puffed Marshmallow”. It’s a stunner.

Home Today will be released on September 13th. Pre-orders are live now.

More From Secret Shame

After a few stellar songs coming my way, I am fully on board with the hype train behind Asheville based group Secret Shame. For me it’s been a welcome change from a lot of the garage rock style I post to more of a dark pop, gothic style. The band’s latest, entitled “Gift” can be found streaming below. It features the same dark, almost new wave sound with some dashes of the macabre.

Secret Shame will release new album Dark Synthetics on September 6th. Pre-order is live now.

Nice Pop Number From Cones

Los Angeles brother duo Cones built up a lot of buzz over the last couple of years having slowly dropped some singles here and there. After all the hype, the boys recently announced the release of their debut album entitled Pictures of Pictures out on September 20th via Dangerbird Records. As the release date draws near, a new single called “Laugh of the Party” has found its way to the interwebs. What you’ll find is a truly impressive piece of indie pop music which might remind you of a band like Generationals or even earlier, non sucky Vampire Weekend. It’s a hit. Maybe you should pre-order the new album now?

More From Matthew Squires

Hey now I think we’ve made it abundantly clear we are big fans of our local ATX friend Matthew Squires and the music he creates. He’s always had a knack for being a just a tad left of center in the Austin indie scene while also churning out some absolutely beautiful songs over the years. As he prepares for the release of his new album Visions of America, Squires recently dropped the lead track for streaming enjoyment. This guy seriously continues to evolve into one of the most important songwriters in our city.

Visions of America will drop on August 30th.

Fun Track From The Beekeepers

It’s Monday morning and Nathan and I are bummed out to be fully back to work starting tomorrow. As bummed as we may be, we can always try to bolster our moods with some fun, energetic, easy to get into music. Imagine that, my new friends in Portland, New York based The Beekeepers just sent over this new song called “Endless Spiral Notebooks”. It’s a fun, yet simple song full of swirling organs and an overall DIY approach to songwriting. It’s a fresh track for a Monday morning. Enjoy.

Say Hi To Parachuter

As usual, we are always looking for some new upstart bands with promising material. Today I am pleased to share with you this fresh new Denton based artist Wesley Jesnen and his new project known as PARACHUTER. Before I say much more, go ahead and hit play on his new single called “Trouble Talking” below. It’s certainly a bedroom project of love as evidenced by the attention to detail and tightness of the recording. Having listened to this song a few times for this post, I’ve find myself going back and listening again and again while moving my body to the slick beat. Well done sir.

The Shivas Never Fail

Man it’s always nice when a band you can rely on for quality, no frills rock music puts out new music right before the weekend. Today on of our old favorites The Shivas are dropping said rock tune with this new track “Gloria”. As we’ve come to expect from the band, the track features a great psych rock themed, droning rock number with great guitars and reverb. This band continues to be one of those that everyone should have heard about by now.

The Shivas will release new album Dark Thoughts on October 25th via Tender Loving Empire.

Slick New Track From SWOLL

SWOLL is a Baltimore based electronic project featuring Matt Dowling (vocals), Ben Schurr (bass), Erik Sleight (baritone guitar), and Zak Forrest (lights). Having already released a critically acclaimed debut self-titled album, the band now has plans to release a new LP of material entitled Unwound. Of course a new single comes along with this album announcement and you can check it out below. Immediately this new single, and title track from the record, has drawn me in with a slick ass beat and some vocals unique and weird enough to stand out on the song. Could be a little bit Animal Collective with a little bit of the chiller side of Painted Palms as well. It’s a nice.

SWOLL will release new album Unwound on September 27th via Blight Records. Pre-order now.

Big Thief Back Again

If you thought Brooklyn based favorites Big Thief only had one album planned for this year, well you thought wrong. Nope, having just dropped U.F.O.F. back in May, the band are returning with the sure to be stellar follow up, Two Hands, coming in October. Of course a new album announcement also comes with some new material in the form of this bangin’ new track called “Not”. What starts as a typical Big Thief jam with the shuttering and gritty vocals of Adrienne Lenker, eventually turns into an all out, jam fest with heavy guitars, drums and bass. I’m sure you’ll love it.

Big Thief will release new LP Two Hands on October 11th via 4AD. Pre-order here.
