Say Hi To Frass Green

D.C. based musician Joe Antoshak has worked for several years with his project known as Frass Green. Though originally a solo gig, Antoshak put together a 4 piece band under his moniker and has toured a bit around the D.C. area over the last year. Currently on the up and up, the band is also sharing more music online, starting with this sweet new track called “Hair”. It is an inspiring pop song built in the vein of garage rock with tons of energy and fun vibes to boot. If you are feeling this one, the band currently has a new album called For You streaming over on bandcamp. Enjoy!

Straight Rocker From Gaffa Tape Sandy

Nathan and I developed a love affair for English based band Gaffa Tape Sandy a couple of years ago and we’ve been eagerly awaiting more music from the band ever since. Somehow we missed new single “Headlights” dropped back in March, but luckily the band have another new single called “So Dry” ready to share today. To be perfectly honest, this is exactly what I needed today as I delve through new music full of bleeps, bloops and effected vocals. Not here, this trio again delivers a powerful track mixing all the best edgy elements of The Thermals with the sensible song construction of a band like Weezer, but with even better melodies. I love it.

Gaffa Tape Sandy will release new EP Family Mammal on August 9th via Alcopop! Records.

Banging Track From Blood Cultures

The mysterious artist group known as Blood Cultures are returning this year with a planned release of a new album called Oh Uncertainty! A Universe Despairs coming in September. Prior to the new album, the group have shared this absolute banger of a new song “Best For You”. The song has a beautifully crafted beat driving things throughout with some sparse vocals and timely synths to create something truly unique. At first it reminded me a bit of an older Daughn Gibson song, but with a more appropriate, ahem, vocal delivery. Here’s to more from the group we still know very little about.

Rock With French Alps Tiger

After a little chill start to the day, let’s really get into gear here on Monday with a more rocking tune. This jam of a song comes by way of South Wales based outfit French Alps Tiger. The song obviously brings a ton of energy, loud guitars and washed out, effected vocals. For a band who openly wants to keep things fun and engaging, they’ve executed that goal perfectly with “Tell a Lie”.

Chill Track From El Rocko

After a long weekend away from the internet, I’m back with some chill music to share with you ever awaiting fans. This sweet new one called “Half the Day” comes from Chattanooga based artist El Rocko. The project, with the young Chase Waller the mastermind, features beautifully crafted bedroom pop music with a relaxed, warm vibe to the sound. It is this guy’s opinion that you will be hearing a lot more from Waller as he plans to release a full LP later this year on Yellow Racket Records.

More From The Appleseed Cast

As most know, I was a little more than excited when I heard one of my all times The Appleseed Cast was returning this year with new music. Seriously, this is big news for me and I can assure you all that the new album will certainly not disappoint. For more of a teaser of the new material, the band has just sent along this brand new track “Chaotic Waves”. It once again shows a band evolving, growing into a more polished sound with swirling guitars and some of the best drum work I’ve heard since the Low Level Owl days.

The Appleseed Cast will release new album The Fleeting Light of Impertinence on June 28th via Graveface Records.

Noisy Rock From Birthday Girl

Tuesday seems like a perfect day for some noisy, sludge rock n roll. Why, no real reason other than today is Tuesday and I’ve just received this loud new song called “I Came Here to Eat” from Stockholm based Birthday Girl. It’s a little bit aggressive, yet also restrained with some heavy bass and washed out vocals. For me, it’s fitting in nicely during my Tuesday routine.

This track is out now via video and all digital platforms on the band’s own Sweet Cream Records.

Fun New Track From Fake Crush

As we are now in full on summer mode, you should be thinking about building your perfect summer playlists. Today I offer you a great, upbeat summer tune called “High Top Kicks” from Toronto based outfit Fake Crush. The song has a lovely driving guitar with sing a long style vocals and tons of energy to boot. It should be perfect to compete for your best song of summer.

Fake Crush will be releasing a new LP sometime this fall.

Killer New Track From Wilding

Having been damn near 5 years since we last heard from our Melbourne friend Wilding, I was quite excited to receive some new music from him a few days ago. His latest effort, “Speed King of the Commonwealth” is more of a loud, indie rock pop song worthy of dancing and head banging. It reminds me of early singles from Kaiser Chiefs with it’s chant inducing “la la las” and breezy guitar sound. This song is out now on all formats via Half Cow Records.

Only the beginning, Wilding is currently hard at work on his third album entitled The Death of Foley’s Mall coming sometime later this year.

Electro Pop From Vola Tila

While not always my personal style of music, I can always appreciate some electronic pop with a solid beat and driving sound. If you can get behind the style as well, I suggest you check out this banging new track called “Turn Back Time” From Swedish based duo Vola Tila. It reminds me of Drive soundtrack music from Cliff Martinez made more accessible with dark, electronic elements of bands like The XX. I am already looking forward to jamming this one as I drive around town today while pumping my fist in the air.

Vola Tila will be releasing their deput EP Personality Apocalypse in the next few months.
