More From Night Moves

As Night Moves prepare to release their new album Can You Really Find Me later this month, the band is dropping more new music in anticipation. Today the boys sent over this new track “Recollections” which is more of a mellow, slow grooving song when compared to previously released banger “Strands Align”. The track is helping to set up what will surely be on the best, and most well balanced albums of the year.

Can You Really Find Me hits streets on June 28th via Domino.

New Rocker From Drawing Boards

With members of Dirty On Purpose, Sisters, TEEN, and Darlings, new band Drawing Boards from Queens obviously has a lot of fire power for a new band. One can hear the power from the super group with this new, loud single called “Poor Bentley”. The listener will be treated to some expertly produced drums, well timed vocals, and some clean guitar riffs. Check it out.

Drawing Boards will new LP The Message on June 7th via Gentle Reminder Records.

Introducing: The Drug Rugs

The Drug Rugs are a five piece, jangly indie rock band hailing from Halifax north of the border. Though the band is young and new to the scene, you’ll immediately notice an incredibly grown up and mature sound. Take for example this new single “Sandbar”. It manages to blend elements of driving rock like Springsteen with more modern sounds of shoegaze and pop music. It’s a beautifully constructed track.

The Drug Rugs are currently hard at work on their debut EP with a potential release date in the fall.

Miss June Sign to Frenchkiss Records

Frenchkiss Records is a longtime favorite label of ours and they seem to have found another great unknown band with the signing of Auckland based band Miss June. Celebrating the new signing, the band are dropping a video for this new single “Best Girl” which can be found below. Anyone with an open ear will immediately be drawn to the bands large amount of energy and power thrown into their music. It’s as if Garbage had more of a rocking sound like Screaming Females. Dig it.

Miss June will release this song on a 7″ vinyl release coming on June 10th via Frenchkiss Records.

Guitar Heavy Rock From WIVES

Queens based rock band WIVES sent out this new track called “The 20 Teens” yesterday and I had to get it out to you people today. The song is a straight up rock n roll song with just a little bit of quirkiness to bring in a sort of Wolf Parade, Spencer Krug vibe. As you have a listen and enjoy, consider checking out more of the band’s music on bandcamp and mark your calendar for the release of their new album So Removed on October 4th via City Slang.

More From Minihorse

Back in the winter months of February, I discovered the Michigan based band called Minihorse. I was immediately drawn to the group’s style of slowed down, slackerish rock style with tons of rises and falls throughout each song. Today I’m pleased to share with you another single from the band entitled “Summer Itch”. This one has an even slower, mellow vibe when compared to the previous single, but it yet again well slap you in the face with some loud guitar breakdowns from time to time. It’s another beauty.

Minihorse will release their debut album Living Room Art on July 26th via Park the Van.

Premiere: Intimate Track From Loamlands

I am beyond pleased today to share with you a premiere of North Carolina based Loamlands new single “Soni Wolf Grandmother”. The track is a beautifully arranged, intimate, country tinged songwriter track sure to demand your attention in a subtle yet powerful way. Always vulnerable with her songwriting, lead singer Kym Register offers a personal take on her queer origin story and what life might have been like decades ago in a world with much less tolerance and acceptance. I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s powerful.

Loamlands will release new album Lez Dance on June 7th via Cruisin Records.

The Appleseed Cast Return!

As many of you know, The Appleseed Cast is one of my all time favorite bands. If you asked me to make a list of my top 10, or even top 5 bands that have impacted me heavily over the years, the Lawrence based legends would certainly be on that list. With that out of the way, I’m incredibly excited to share with you today the band’s first single in five years called “Time the Destroyer.” Fan of the band or not, anyone with some taste will immediately praise the beautiful progression of this song from the slow 2.5 minute build up to the extreme break down and back again. Band leader Chris Crisci has continually found ways to add new elements to his ever-progressing sound, and this track, with some loud, electronic synths is more evidence that he will continue to evolve. Epic.

UPDATE: It’s worth noting that Crisci enlisted friends Sean Bergman, Ben Kimball, and Nick Fredrickson for help on the new album.

The Appleseed Cast will release new album The Fleeting Light of Impermanence on June 28th via Graveface Records.

More From GRMLN

What’s left for us to say about GRMLN at this point? The dude has possibly earned more praise on our website than any other artist in the past. Recently, we were sent a great new track called “Half Moon Bay” which showed a move towards a more hazy, shoegaze sound. With this new single, “Do You Really Want to Stay?”, we see a delve even deeper into the haze filled, pop music world. It’s yet another hit in an ever expanding catalogue.

We are told GRMLN will be releasing a new EP sometime in June.
