Continuing or ACL coverage today, we are excited to bring you an interview with buzz worthy band Passion Pit. These guys have been getting a whole bunch of praise heaped on them from numerous sources and we tend to think they deserve that praise. We recently spoke with Jeff Apruzzese from the band who discusses the hype and buzz surrounding his band. Of course that’s not all we talk about, but you’ll just have to read more to see it all.
In this weeks installment of From the Closet I would like to shine a light on one of the greatest bands that you probably haven’t thought of in ten years: Lifter Puller. Lifter Puller, also know as LFTR PLLR, reigns from the great state of Minnesota, which has also given us such luminaries as The Replacements, Husker Du, Soul Asylum, and the purple one himself, Prince.

Let the ATH ACL festival madness begin! So we’ve started off light with a few spotlights on lesser known ACL artists and now we’re really getting serious with artist interviews. Last year we spoke to some pretty big bands and we hope to reach as many artists as we can this year. To start off our interview series, we have none other than French pop hit makers Phoenix. Guitar player Christian Mazzalai recently sat down with us to chat a bit about his now 10 year old band. Follow the jump for full interview.

Solid collaborations seem to come around only once in a blue moon. On the other hand a FT5 of horrible partnerships could go on for 52 weeks straight without repeat. Eminem and Elton John come to mind, Bowie and Crosby creeping me out, and We Are the World as the gold standard of awesomely bad group efforts. Apart from these, there are plenty out there that have me wishing I had never heard them. Fear not, music lovers follow the jump to read about the best collaborations that won’t make you want to hang yourself; in fact, you might enjoy them.

So go back with me if you will to a time when CDs were at their height of popularity and I was just a wee little lad wet behind the ears. I had just graduated from the 6th grade and was about to move on into the dark and scary world that is middle school.
These guys made one of our favorite albums of last year which produced one of our favorite songs, so I think it’s obvious that we need to run an ACL spotlight on Blitzen Trapper. Follow the jump to read more about an ATH favorite.
We all have our hobbies. Whether it be collecting records, knitting, or making graffiti stencils, we all have something that steals away our time and makes the monotony of everyday life a little more bearable. But sometimes our hobbies consume too much of our time or, God forbid, our hobbies become just as monotonous as our day job. You must take a step back and to see what you loved about that hobby in the first place.

Long before you had the trendy Britpop scene that exploded with the likes of Blur and Oasis (though Pulp was clearly the best!), you had another scene, sort of the Godfather scene to Britpop. It was Madchester, rooted in the town of Manchester (where the best team in England plays). The style combined a little bit of house DJ music with straight rock n’ roll. And head of the movement…The Stone Roses.
Not only did they release one of the most flawless albums of the 1980s with their self titled Stone Roses debut, but they did it whilst creating an entirely new mode of fashion (baggy), which I suppose we can blame for the invention of Jncos. Hands down, this was the first Britpop group to make it big, but like most bands of that ilk, they quickly faded into obscurity.
We bring you the group this week, as this marks the anniversary of their debut, and as such, that album is getting the Redux treatment; it’s been remastered, and it includes a selection of demos and unreleased songs to boot. Trust me, this band deserves your love, so go dig in the closet and break out The Stone Roses.
