ATH vs SOTO SXSW Party – March 12th @ Hotel Vegas

First there was Covid, then I had another kid, but I’m back this year to reignite the annual AustinTownHall vs SideOneTrackOne SXSW Party. It’s a 3 stage extravaganza over at Hotel Vegas, bringing in some of our favorite acts from all over Austin and having them throw down ridiculous sets that make us all proud of our music scene. Huge shout out to John at SOTO and 101x Homegrown for the organization, and thanks to the Vegas crew for having us back here. This year, we’ve even got a fun playlist for you to sample the tunes and share around to get your friends excited.

Show starts at 3 PM on March 12 at Hotel Vegas/Volstead! FREE! See you there!

Meet the SXSW Band: Orions Belte

Now that we are starting to churn out some of these SXSW previews, you can sort of start to feel the excitement growing for the festival. Say what you will about the current state of things either in Austin or with the festival itself, we will still support these artists and have a good time all week. While you’re out there looking for some new bands to follow or check out, might I suggest the Norwegian trio known as Orions Belte. You can scope their interview along with music and current SXSW dates after the jump.

Meet the SXSW Band: Pendant

As we mentioned in our premiere post yesterday, that ‘lil festival called SXSW is going down in just a few short weeks and we at ATH are trying to support bands and artists as best we know how. Before we head to their shows and buy some merch, the best thing we can do is simply talk to the artists and get their varied perspective on what it means to play SXSW. Today I am thrilled to be sharing the next artist in our series, PENDANT, which is the musical moniker for Los Angeles based recording artist Christopher Adams. He offered some truly thoughtful and detailed insight into the festival. See his response along with tunes and current show dates after the jump.

Meet the SXSW Band: Dream, Ivory

Well SXSW has somehow snuck up on us once again and things will be kicking off in less than a month now with the usual mass influx of artists coming to town. I’m sure everyone has heard the chatter this year about artist fair pay, and we totally support the movement in full, but in the immediate future we have bands coming to town, and we want show our support however we can. One way we can do that as a music site is to give them a platform to introduce themselves and even get their opinion on the fight for fair pay. Today we are kicking off our initial coverage with an introduction and interview featuring SoCal based band Dream, Ivory. Hit the jump for interview, music, and initial set times.

Show Highlight: Why Bonnie @ Antones (1.15)

Why Bonnie is one of those local(ish) bands we feel like we grew up with as we were there from the beginning several years ago, the move away from town, and their rise in fandom over the past year. Of course much of this new found buzz has come after the release of the absolutely stunning, and ATH year end list hogging album, 90 in November. Since the band took their talents to the East Coast, we don’t get to see them live as much as we’d like, but they are back in town on Sunday with a headlining show at Antone’s downtown. Prior to the Sunday show, leading lady Blair was kind enough to answer a few burning questions about her band, their last album, and what the future holds. Hit the jump for Q&A along with ticket link and music.
