Our second installment of The Rumble in Austin with our new friends over at Future Sounds continues this week at Beerland on Red River.  For the evening we’ll be bringing you some talented locals in the form of Pure Ecstasy, Soft Healer, and Sleep Over.  I think it goes without saying that this night will be jam packed full of experimental and interesting new takes on music.  All 3 acts could be “the next big thing” out of our little town.  Oh and best of all, it’s free!  Many thanks to our fellow sponsors The AV Club, Waterloo Records, The Austinist, and Covert Curiosity for making this thing possible.

Titus Andronicus @ Emo’s (9/1)

Date 9/1/10
Location Emos
Doors 9pm
Tickets $12 @ Ticketweb

Well ladies and gentleman summer has come to a close and we suggest the best way to celebrate/mourn would be to heal your wounds with some solid rock music.  We think the best way to do that is to head to Emo’s on Wednesday night for indie-rock n roll band Titus Andronicus.  Joining the band on stage are two solid locals Yellow Fever and Whitman.  Also don’t forget that The Strange Boys will be getting down on the inside stage!  All in all, this show should rock from start to finish and your face will be left on the floor.

The always solid Ben Kweller has a show planned Tuesday night at the Threadgill’s south location.  It doesn’t look like any opening act is in store so it’ll be all Ben all night.  Make it out if you’ve been living under a rock for the last 10 years and haven’t seen Kweller live.

Date 8/28/10
Location Mohawk
Doors 2pm
Tickets $20 @ Frontgate

In partnership with Maker’s Mark and Couch Professor Entertainment, Mohawk is putting on a huge event Saturday called Red River on the Rocks.  On top of the huge lineup of bands, free pizza will be provided throughout the day from Hoboken Pizza, free beverages are provided by Honest Tea and Red Bull, AND a free drink or two from Maker’s Mark.  A sweet photo booth by Alison Narro will be on site to capture the fun.  The lineup for this thing is massive and too big to be re-posted here, but highlights for me are Dead Confederate, Hacienda, Fresh Millions, Futurebirds, and a whole bunch more local talent.  People interested in attending should enter the code “SUGAR” for $10 off tickets.  More information on the huge event can be seen on the flyer or on the Do512 event page.

Austin’s very own Weird Weeds have a show planned at Bill Baird’s Baby Blue Studios (1522 East 12th st.) on Thursday evening.  Support for the night is provided by a new project between Tim Barnes, John dieterich, and Thollem McDonas along with Austin’s own Plutonium Farmers.  The space is pretty low key and will feature some make shift seating arrangements and a BYOB attitude.  Should all be a recipe for good times.  Below you can find a new track from Weird Weeds off their upcoming album Help Me Name Melody out on September 14th.
