Mohawk is the place to be on Friday night if you’re a fan of some of the bands on our very own local label Western Vinyl. Headliners Balmorhea will be sharing the stage with our new favorite band Ola Podrida. Fellow Martin Crane of Brazos will be playing solo and opening things up.

Jay Reatard is making his triumphant return to Austin on Wednesday night at Emos, with local band Harlem. You’re guaranteed to love every bit of the music, but I recommend you bring along a set of earplugs because the last time Jay came through town, my ears rang for three days from the volume of his live set. He’s going to play fast and loud, and you’re going to enjoy every minute of it. Oh, and if you make it out to the show, let me know how the new line-up sounds.

It’s time for all you metal heads to come out in Austin at Emo’s tonight with a show by Savannah, GA band Baroness. Local boys Iron Age and fellow metal heads Dark Castle will be providing your opening support. No doubt this will be a loud and heavy show which should wake you up from the weekend.

One of our favorite hip-hop artists Aesop Rock is making his way to Mohawk on Friday night with some other hip-hop acts. Joining in on the events are Rob Sonic, DJ Big Wiz, and Starving Martyrs. Should be a solid night of hip-hop stylings in Austin.

Man, a show by Athens, GA band The Whigs on the indoor stage at Emo’s sounds like one hell of a loud and awesome rock show. Fellow rockers The Features and A Giant Dog will also be getting down on the inside stage. This is surely a show you won’t want to miss.

So the time has finally arrived for the Metric show at La Zona Rosa on Tuesday and we couldn’t be more excited. As many of you also probably take part in, we here at ATH will be taking a bit of vacation time for the Thanksgiving holiday over the next couple of days. The incredible Neko Case is making a stop in town just in time for Thanksgiving at Antones on Tuesday. The show is also set up to benefit the local Austin Food Bank during these cold and trying times for the less fortunate. Opening support is provided by Oh No Oh My.
