We won’t deny that we’ve been in love with Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson since his self-titled debut came out a few years ago, pushing it into our Top 40 Albums of 2008.  Now, he is making his way to Austin in support of his newest album Summer of Fear, which is equally as stellar, if not a bit more developed sonically.  You should definitely make your way out to Emos tonight to check on him.  He’ll be on stage at 11PM, followed by Warpaint, and preceded by My Education.

Who ever said you can’t celebrate Halloween early?  The fine folks at Cherry Peel and Flip Scene think you can and that’s exactly what they’ll be doing at Mohawk on Wednesday night.  You can expect music from Black and White Years, Bright Light Social Hour, Learning Secrets DJs, Markus with a K, L.A.X, and Neiliyo.  Also make sure you wear a costume so you’ll be a part of the costume contest with some sick prizes.  A lot more info can be found on that sweet flier or over on do512.

While the jury is still out on just how good Vapours is, we still look forward to an always energetic show from Islands. Touring behind their new album, they will also be bringing along Jemina Pearl to back the group up.  Tickets are fairly cheap, so you can’t really not attend this show can you?  Sure, there are loads of good ones this week, but the way Nic plays onstage is enough to get us out there. And who knows, maybe he’ll throw us a bone and give us “The Sound.”

The great pioneers of indie rock Built to Spill are making a return to Austin at Stubbs on Saturday night.  Fellow groundbreaking artist Dinosaur Jr. along with Lou Barlow, and Disco Doom will also be on hand to make this one of those can’t miss nights.  Built to Spill are currently touring in support of their brand new record There is No Enemy which we reviewed recently.

Now in it’s 3rd year of existence, Xemumba will be making it’s annual appearance this weekend at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard (check that map if you don’t know where that is).  This is an all day event with cheap ticket prices and tons of bands to wet your appetite for latin flavor.  A full list of bands can be seen on the attached fancy flier created by Bemba Entertainment (also producers of the event).  You can get tickets at the door for $15 if you don’t buy them in advance.  Also, check out some coverage we provided of last year’s fest at Mohawk.
