Yesterday’s News: New Video From Together Pangea

Not sure if this video quite qualifies as ‘new’ considering it dropped last week, but I’m dumbfounded as to how I missed that Together Pangea have announced a new album and shared a video for the first single, “Better Find Out.” The track, while brief, is a racing lo-fi-punk jam, with gang vocals and killer guitar solos. It’s the kind of song you will listen to 15 times in a row just so you can get the chorus stuck in your head for the rest of the day only to revisit it later. The band’s new album,Bulls and Roosters,will be out August 25 via NETTWERK. Take a peek at the silly video for the rad track below– you can bet I won’t miss the next single from this group.

Two distinctive voices wrapping around each other isn’t always a success, unless its done by The Hayman Kupa Band. Darren and Emma tend to trade back verses on this new single, with a huge chorus really executing their united powers. Musically, you’re running through the fields on a sunny day, stopping from time to time to revel in the company of a great friend. Chugging chords help push the band’s pop objective with little percussive bits sneaking into the party from behind. Thanks to Fika Recordings we’ll all be able to relish the joys of life when they release the band’s LP on July 21st.

Another New Pregnancy Track

Pregnancy is the the project of various members for Australian hit-makers like the Ocean Party, Totally Mild and Ciggie Witch. There’s a brooding no-wave vibe to the track, with vocals delivered in a matter-of-fact manner while guitar chords dance playfully in the background. While much of the track dwells in this manner, there’s a dreamy moment that closes out the track with just a hint of energy. If you’re looking for a solid day starter, then this track is the one for you. Look for the band’s debut album, Urgency, to drop on July 14th via Lost and Lonesome and Emotional Response.

Show Preview: Night Drive Release Party @ Cheer Up TONIGHT!

Night Drive is finally able to unleash their self-titled full length out today. To commemorate, we are gathering at Cheer Up Charlies for a night music and fun. They wanted to invite friends that they love and make some new ones to join them on stage. If you show up, you get good friends Orthy, who have promised a bunch of new music, Keeper, Single Lash and Lambda.

That is a really nicely stacked lineup. Add to it, AmuricaTX will have their photobooth trailer to immortalize things and Captain Morgan is providing the drink specials if you dare.

I’ll be there taking the pics for ATH along with +1 and many friends and familiar faces. We’re thinking a burger and Salt and Time would be fun beforehand. It will be hot. Be ready. Dress sensibly. Comfortable shoes. Nathan loves when I bring up comfortable shoes. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Powerful Indie Rock From Us And Us Only

I used to be that guy who would delete emails or ignore posts with music videos associated with them. Not sure why, maybe it’s the low quality sound on youtube? Either way, if you haven’t noticed, I’ve come around to the medium and will definitely post great songs via video. Baltimore based band Us and Us Only has offered this great track and accompanying video called “Full Flower”. The song reminds me of David Bazan’s style if he somehow had the indie pop voice of a guy like Ezra Koenig. Dig.

Us and Us Only will release debut album Full Flower on July 14th via Topshelf Records.

The ATH family is always proud when we see one of our favorite Austin artists earning some praise and recognition outside of town. Local A. Sinclair has begun to grow outside of our little city in such a way and we couldn’t be more proud of the very deserving dude. Just last month he released a new track as part of a new single series by Dangerbird Records called Microdose. Today he has another single for the series entitled “Just Remind Me”. I’m keeping the rock n roll feeling going today with this new track called “City Creatures” from Chicago based outfit Absolutely Not. It reminds be a bit of Death From Above if they picked up some more pop-rock feelings like Eagles of Death Metal. Be prepared, because once you hit play, the song takes off and doesn’t look back. Turn up the volume.
