I think this might be the last interview of the SXSW season; everyone’s in town, so you should read up on last time, grab your friends and go see as many wonderful people as you possibly can. Many of you are likely out and about today hitting up SXSW shows, though some of you might not quite be done with work. For those of you still stuck at your day job, I have another interview for you from St. Louis based group Shady Bug. Crazy enough, I just featured them on my Top 6 to watch post so of course I was excited to receive our interview questions back from them. Hit the jump to see the responses.
Everyone is buzzing about the city as we speak, clamoring to find the cool thing to do. Well, luckily, we’d like to bring you a cool hang session with some really great music over at Barracuda on 7th Street. Well SXSW music is officially here, and as I sit and ponder my existence while at work, I thought it would be fun to share some advice on bands to watch for the week. Of course you know how many bands are in town so the list can be incredibly overwhelming and daunting. After a quick scan, I picked out 6 of my “must sees” for the week in hopes you might find something to seek out. Why 6? I have no idea honestly but it seemed like enough to kick start your brain. We’re about to wind it up and disappear into the haze that is SXSW, but alas, we’ve got more news from overseas. Cherry Pickles will be here! At this point, Slow Pulp should already be on your radar; they were picked by NPR as one of the Austin 100 to keep an eye out for SXSW. But, in case you’re not on the up and up, read below for some quick responses from the band as they make their way to Austin.
One of the hottest labels over the last several years has been PNKSLM, bringing us some of the best in Swedish rock n’ roll. We might even have a few of those bands popping up at Barracuda, say tomorrow, for free. But, for now, here’s Magic Potion…get to know them, then go see them!
The madness has begun here in Austin, and if last night’s turnout was any indicator, it’s going to be a crazy week for everyone. We have a few more interviews trickling in, so we wanted to be sure that Balms are on your radar as you make that final push towards SXSW.
What I wouldn’t do to have a band like Bad Moves in Austin. Catchy, progressive and a whole lot of fun live; I feel like you shouldn’t leave SXSW without seeing them at least two different times…but that’s just my humble opinion. They’ve graced us with some questionnaire responses, and you can read those below!
