Sludgy New Single From Adult Books

Over the years, I have grown quite fond of Nick Winfrey and his musical project known as Adult Books. We’ve posted tons of singles from the Los Angeles based artist and even had him and his band on a SXSW bill a few years ago. Late last week, Winfrey sent over this new tune called “Innocence” which I am lazily just getting around to posting today. Adult Books first on new label Taxi Gauche Records, the track is a sludgy, noisy bit of rock music featuring some majorly distorted guitar work and complimentary drums from friend Sina Salessi. Here’s to looking forward to more new music and a new LP coming early next year.

You Should Watch This New Video From Adult Books

Adult Books are back after last years stunning debut full length with a new, Twin Peaks inspired, video for the track “Firewalking.” The music video is a full on short film, which you need to check out below. As for the music, the song reminds me of what I think would happen if Wild Nothing and Beach Fossils procreated. Take a listen/watch and then go check out the band’s full-length debut, Running from the Blows, which came out last year over on their Bandcamp.

Top 50 Albums of 2016

top50You’ve all been waiting, anxiously. Waiting for our arbitrary list of the opinion of four folks who run this site, and what we think were the best albums of 2016. It’s really really important. We’re going to make our site great again with this list. We’re going to win, bigly. But really, it’s just a list of the stuff we loved the most that we covered throughout this year on our site. The comment section is open, so feel free to tell us where we’ve gone wrong or what we’ve got right or anything else fitting. Read more

SXSW Interviews: Adult Books

adultsAs usual, SXSW has slowly inched ever closer without me feeling like I’m fully prepared just yet. I of course have time and will be working to get myself game ready. We here at ATH also want to get you ready with some exposure to bands coming to town who we feel are worth your time. Today I continue that preparation process with an interview from Cali based Adult Books. Nathan and I both have been loving the band’s new album Running from the Blows (out March 4th on Lolipop Records), so we were both excited for this one. Follow the jump for more.

Another Adult Books Hit

adultsTime to put your shoes on and shuffle your feet. You won’t have much more fun than if you choose to jam to this track from Adult Books. Immediately the drums give you a bounce to your step, with the guitar chords taking on the darker tones of jangling pop music. Vocals echo in a cavernous way, filling out the band’s sound, bringing infectious joy straight to your ears. It’s the latest single from the band in preparation of their forthcoming album, Running From the Blows; it’ll be released on March 4th via Lolipop Records. You can also find them on a lengthy US tour, including SXSW Dates.
