I’ve spent the last few months encouraging you to spend some time with Switzerland’s Pet Owner, and now, you can stream the project’s new album, Natural Behaviour in its entirety. We’ve previously covered tracks “Hi-Res” and “Helping Hand,” but rest assured you can dive into all sorts of vibes; I know I’ve been gravitating towards “Soft Body” on my listens, but the slow build of “Sugar Rush” isn’t a bad route to travel either. Stream Skinny Dippers The Town & the City

We’ve covered a majority of the single from Skinny Dippers new LP, and well, it dropped last week, so we wanted to be sure that you were reminded to spend some time with The Town & the City. When it opens, you get some light guitar pop, akin to acts like Real Estate, drawing light melodies from the vocals to build your interest. But, what makes the entirety of the record so rewarding is that Ryan Gross has no problem switching gears, offering the lonesome ballad of “Big City, Small Apartement” before bouncing off to classic indie pop vibes with “Past Selves.” But, be sure you don’t ignore the album closer, “I Would Like to Say I Always Loved You,” which might be the best song Nada Surf never wrote. Stream Team Play’s Debut Album, Wishes and Desires

There’s always a soft spot in my heart for really moving pop music, such as you’ll find in the debut album from Finland’s Team Play. The duo have called this collection “gothic hymns,” celebrating the voice of humanity; the whole of the record is really about the vocal interplay between Minja and Tapio, combining and overlapping one another as they music fills in the empty spaces behind them. “Sunrise” has this beautiful rolling opening moment that sets you up to fall in love with the brooding emotions. Personally, I keep going back to “Foggy Night,” which sparkles with this delicateness that seems unparalleled in the current climate. Wishes and Desires is available today from Soliti Music.

Stream U.S. Highball’s A Parkhead Cross of the Mind

Last Friday I ran some great albums for you to stream, but one slipped past me, and I’m aiming to rectify that error by sharing the latest LP from US Highball with you today. We’ve covered hits like “Double Dare” and “Let’s Save Bobby Orlando’s House,” so you should know exactly what you’re in store for by listening; you get a good 12 songs of infectious power-pop that’s sing-a-long ready. Plus, your listen should also keep in mind that you’re also get a little bit of dry humor, which only makes the group all the more endearing. The Minders Release Psychedelic Backdrop

I wonder how one of the bands that sprang out of the early Elephant 6 era could completely miss my radar when they dropped a new release! I aim to rectify that by sharing the Minders newest release in streaming form below. As the title alludes, there’s tons of psychedelic nods throughout, though I’ll be frank, as the album feels a lot sunnier and poppy than you might be led to believe. For example, listen to “Let’s Go Driving!,” which feels like a reimagined Dead tune, spun with sunshine and hooks. Of course, there’s also the more sullen vibes you get on “Astoria,” though I’m a sucker for the buoyant hooks of “Magic Anorak.” If you’re looking for classic indie pop sounds, then dive into Psychedelic Backdrop.

Zero Percent APR Drop Halbum LP

Let’s not beat around the bush here, Zero Percent APR is the alter ego of our favorite Austin ghouls, Being Dead; you might remember we helped the band put out this rad EP a few years back. Well, their here today to bewitch you with their Halloween album, just out on cassette via Spared Flesh Records. This collection of themed music still has the same experimentation and devilish humor that the band always utilizes in their work; it still has me wondering why they aren’t the biggest band in the world right now? Seriously, how is a band with these gifts and a rocking live show not bigger than Shakey Graves? I have no idea, but Halbum is a fun collection of tunes from the ZPAPR, something for you from the underworld.

Stream Semihelix’s New LP, Recoil

Pretty huge release day out there, with some ATH faves like Ducks LTD and Cindy dropping new albums, but I wanted to stay a little closer to home with a record we really love around here: Semihelix‘s Recoil. Honestly, I think Geannie Friedman and company really hit it out of the park here; the album plays in the realm with roots dating back to post-punk, but it uses that as a touchstone, dancing here and there. Take “Mourning Light,” which features this bubbling bass line and soothing melody, definitely taking some notes from the Sarah Records catalog, then jump ahead a few tracks to “Translucent,” using more pace and urgency to push the melodic notes. It all works so perfectly, you’re sort of shocked that this is the band’s debut. Me, well, I’m partial to “Come Around,” with Friedman’s best vocal performance, at least to my ears. Go ahead and give this album a few spins this morning.
