Consider yourselves lucky! Three of the song’s I wrote about didn’t make DSPs yet, otherwise, you’d have a two hour playlist of joy to listen through today. Luckily, Australia was keeping it real, with new stuff from The Male Gays, Pop Filter, Kosmetika and Alluvial Nuggets all gracing the site. There was some Austin show coverage too, namely Mikky & the Doom and Adrianne Lenker, so jams from those acts get included. On the personal tip, I was really pulling for the Manners Manners and Nightshift to be big hits out there in the scene, with this new Parallel tune right behind it! There’s also some expansive jams too from the likes of Immersion and Nap Eyes, if you need a tune over 5 minutes for your life. Enjoy.

Alluvial Nuggets Release Hot Knives

This new single from Alluvial Nuggets immediately resonated here with the guitar tones; there was something about the bobbing notes working in unison with the gentle strum, setting the scene for this wistful nature to sweep across the song. When James Dutton comes in with his voice, he’s offering up his delivery with a little bit in reserve, as if he is still unsure of how much of himself he’d like to pass onto the listener. You’ll get a beautiful sweeping movement when the drums elevate the track with just a hint more speed just after the 1 minute marker. Look for the new self-titled record to hit on June 28th via Lost and Lonesome.

Trying to keep pace with ourselves, we covered a ton of ground last week on the site. We got to premiere a psychedelic campfire jam from Mountain Movers, and we might be one of the few US-based sites covering Dr. Sure’s Unusual Practice…which steps in line with that Cola track we also ran. There’s a bit Austin contingent too this week, as Variety, Blushing, Strand of Oaks and Good Looks all honored us with fresh music from their forthcoming releases. We also flirted with a bit of electronic arts too, with new stuff from Martha Rose and Maria Chiara Argiro…just so you don’t think we’re all rock n’ roll over here. Alluvial Nuggets Share When We Lost the Internet

As we eagerly away the debut self-titled album from James Dutton’s project Alluvial Nuggets, at least we can all rejoice in another peak under the covers. At first, the song takes on a modern jig feel, straddling guitar chords working atop a bob-and-weave of the bass work, offering up a pulse that subsides to bring in a more bold pop approach. Although the bass line still maintains its energy, there is some arrangement work coming in to add these melodic bits that flesh it out, even as the song runs for the expanse at the end by way of smoking guitar lines. Look for the self-titled debut this June from Lost and Lonesome.

Ever listen to a song that just makes you feel good, even though you can’t put that feeling into words? Today, that’s the new track from Alluvial Nuggets, which is the second single from their forthcoming slef-titled debut. There’s this chugging movement in the guitar play, a bit of swagger that has you rocking back and forth. But, it’s muted, so the snapping of the drums lets you bounce your toes. A few of the guitar lines dip their toes into modern psychedelia, yet even as you think the band’s going that route, they spin in a bit of twangy melody into the chorus, only to let that moment boogie you towards the close. A lot of musical nods, but ultimately just a rad bop. Alluvial Nuggets is out in June via Lost and Lonesome.

I know Spotify is the devil, so please pass judgment knowing that I know it’s the devil, but I can’t turn my back on the beast…not to mention, the ease of access for everyone, which is where Spotify dominates the market. Alas, yes, I’m using Spotify for my playlist…until Bancamp offers me something better, but even they can’t be trusted anymore! So, I’ll just wrap up last week on my one! ATH Wrapped! We covered a lot of music, with some heavy-hitters like Real Estate, JAMC and Ducks Ltd. popping off with new stuff. There was a ton of tuneage from Australia: Pop Filter, Sachet, The Brights, Alluvial Nuggets and Good Morning. Plus, I’m flipping a coin between the Umbrellas and Bolis Pupul for my fave track of the week. What’s yours? Find out below!
