Announcing the SOTO vs ATH Showdown (Sponsored by 101x Homegrown)
The new schedule forced a lot of changes in the SXSW lineup, and we expected some changes to our yearly Side One Track One vs AustinTownHall annual show at Hotel Vegas. It looked like we might not be able to pull it off, but the great folks at the venue swooped in to save the show, albeit in a bit of a limited fashion. Love working with John Laird, who also runs the 101X Homegrown Live show, and he helps keep this ship organized and running tight!
Here’s a list of bands: Glaze, Dossey, Club Coma, Gummy Fang, Hikes, Grocery Bag, French Film, Commercial Breaks, New Strangers, Nervous, BRUCE, The Lovely Sparrows, Living Set, Paper Sister, Daphne Tunes.

We’re still in the middle of a great year of music, and as we hit that sweet spot, there seem to be more tracks coming out every day; we try to cover as much as we can, but admittedly, we’re not perfect! It was really nice to see Emma Anderson of Lush pop her head up with a brand new track from her forthcoming solo LP. Personally, I loved that new Pachyman jam, as that guy rules and I’m totally hoping everyone catches on to his vibe. A little Austin love for Holy Wave who continue to impress with the sounds of their new LP. Then there’s old ATH faves like Pia Fraus and Tan Cologne, plus the Who Is She supergroup making the cut too. Browse, stream, enjoy.
We’re not sure if you’re off or not for President’s Day, so we wanted to make sure those stuck in an office, or just browsing the Internet at home caught on to what we dished out last week! Ryan premiered a fresh track from Slow Fiction, plus he was able to get some SXSW coverage up via interviews with
Ok, so let’s be honest here. Top Albums doesn’t truly exist; I’m a part-time blogger, so I’m not really qualified to tell you what is the top album, and what isn’t. But, that being said, I do have 50 albums that I spent a lot of time with this year, and purchased about 90% of them; I can only buy so much on this teacher salary! So, my list is alphabetical, thus eliminating the rating system; I’ve tried to get the Bandcamp links so you can buy it from the bands or the labels, if you’re so inclined! Happy 2022 ya’ll!
