New Tune From Passenger Peru

Passenger Peru is a banda1224397052_10 that I’m sure many of you know very little about, as I am just now finding out about them today.  The group are a duo hailing from Brooklyn who have been hard at work recording their music over the last year or so anxiously waiting to drop the tunes out to the public.  Today we’re offering up one of the band’s latest tunes called “Heavy Drugs”.  It’s an interesting pop tune that gives us a great chorus that could be labeled as something you might hear from older Rogue Wave or fellow dinosaur loving band Dinosaur Bones.  Definitely give it a few listens and let us know what ya think.

Pre-order the band’s new album now via Fleeting Youth Records (it’s due out January 28th).

New Jam From Flagland

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHere’s an interesting new track I’m digging called “Comfortable Life” coming your way from Brooklyn based trio Flagland.  The track is fairly average for about 1:56, until things really open up into a truly special moment.  I won’t tell you anything else about it so you can be just as pleasantly surprised as I was near the end.  Don’t ruin the ending!  Seriously, stick with the song the whole way through and enjoy the badassness.

New album, Love Hard, is due out February 25th on Father/Daughter Records.

New Jam from Little Racer

RACER_01.141746It’s always funny to me how some bands break in the UK before ever making waves in the US, so I definitely feel like I need to open my eyes beyond my own shores…such is this global world.  One of the bands that have really made a name for themselves abroad is Little Racer of NY; they even put out a 7″ overseas in 2011.  But, things look to change with catchy tracks such as the one below.  There’s a dark quality from the sound of the guitars and the brooding bass line, but you’ll still hear an accessible pop sensibility lurking beneath.  Enjoy this track and wait for the group’s upcoming EP.

Swinging Pop Ditty from The Teen Age

The-Teen-AgeI’m in serious need of a pick me up today, as I spent my sleeping time rocking to the Terry Malts.  So I’ve turned to The Teen Age, who have just been prepping the release of a new 7″ via Paper Cup Music.  I like the way the guitars are being used here, not to mention the sort of classic doo-wop sound in the vocals; it’s definitely making me nostalgic for sitting around the house rocking with my mom’s tape collection.  Anyways, just dug this track, so I figured I’d share it with you all. Here’s to the weekend.

New Music from Zula

ZulaPress2013a_121054It’s pouring rain down here in Austin, so I feel like we need something to brighten up our days a bit, or at least give us some spirit.  This tune from Zula is really working for me, as it really shows a more ecclectic version of your modern indie pop.  I sort of hear bits of all the bands everyone loves, but none stands out, allowing the group to stake claim to their own sound. They’ll be releasing This Is Hopeful, their debut, on October 29th via Inflated Records.

Shark? Mellow Us Out

sharkBrooklyn based Shark? is a band who have become well known for their interesting take on the updated garage rock/loud guitar genre.  As Rocky once said however, everyone can change right?  This new track from the band, “Wither”, is certainly a bit of something different sonically when compared to other songs.  Personally, I think it’s a great little acoustic based ballad that will surely fit in nicely with all the other rockin’ tunes on the band’s upcoming album Savior.  You can pick that one up on October 1st via Old Flame Records.

Adios Ghost Take Us in a New Direction

75159_540445102636607_944786907_nBack in January, I helped introduce you guys to rising Brooklyn band Adios Ghost and their brand of quirky pop music.  Well today the band are bringing us their latest single called “Splitting Glass”.  It has much more of an electronic feel to it than what we heard back in the winter.  I dig the blend of their original folky pop sound with the interesting synth noises going on in the background.  All in all, a great track that really peaks around the 4:00 minute mark in an incredible rising action.  Stay tuned as we hear more from these guys.

New Pop From Steady Sun

734785838-1Brooklyn is a city that tends to throw all kinds of awesome pop music our way on a daily basis. This new song “Eyes Wide” from the biggest indie pop city in the world band Steady Sun is no different. It’s simple, airy, and a fun jerky sort of pop song that can’t be resisted by even the most unmovable music critic. Well, I like it anyway.

A full album entitled Good Evening is available for stream on bandcamp.

Introducing: Adios Ghost

75159_540445102636607_944786907_n

It goes without saying that Brooklyn is a major hot bed for up and coming indie bands, with what seems like 20 new artists popping up on a daily basis.  This band, Adios Ghost, is another great group out of Brooklyn that just sent their tunes our way.  They have a brand new EP streaming for free over on Bandcamp and I’ve taken a liking to their tunes over the last couple of days.  Their sound sort of meshes popular indie groups like Local Natives with Surfer Blood to create this sort of indie folk pop style of music.  I dig it, and you should too.  Say hi to the band on Twitter or check out their Facebook page.

Smooth Pop Tunes from Leapling

I’m really excited about this tune from Leapling that has been floating around just a little bit over the Interwebs.  A light introduction builds the perfect setting for the tune, leaving enough empty space for the brilliant melody to jump in enthusastically, then trickle it’s way through your mind, leaving an effortless happiness in its wake.  There’s not much information on the group, other than that they’re from Brooklyn and they’re making this chilled out collage pop.  Oh, and they will soon have an EP to their name, which is being put out by the excellent folks over at Father Daughter Records…I’ll keep you updated on that.
