Leilani Patao Shares Portrait + Releases Daisy

Over the last few years, Audio Antihero has been gathering up a solid stable of acts of great songwriting, such as Frog. Today, they release a new Ep from Leilani Patao, and I was really drawn to the track below, so felt like we could start you on the right foot today. It’s a slow burn, with the vocals and guitar work really low in their presentation; there is a little vocal lift that highlights Patao’s ability to weave in subtle melodies into her songwriting, and those little nuances are what will keep you coming back to Daisy. If you’re interested in the whole EP, you can stream the whole thing HERE.

Dark Ethereal Bedroom Pop From Ohyeahsumi

Ohyeahsumi is a duo made up of twin sisters, Lena and Rena Vernon, out of LA, who are about to make real waves in the music world. They’ve just announced that they’ve signed to Austin’sSports Day Records. This track, “Daisy,” will immediately win your affection for these ladies, as it’s the perfect slice of brooding bedroom pop. Duelingbass and electric guitar riffs make up the majority of the instrumentation for the song and the piercing vocals provide the effortless accompaniment that really makes this track shine. The whispery, haunting, and almost too pristine vocals give the whole song an eerie, yet beautiful vibe that you’ll be hard pressed to shake as you move through your day. I know I keep coming back–watch out for Ohyeahsumi.

New Music From Fang Island

FangIslandFang Island is another one of those Brooklyn bands that can sometimes fall behind the shadow of their local brothers like MGMT or Yeasayer.  The sounds of Fang Island can sometimes resemble those bands, but we think they have a more hard rocking edge to their sound.  The band is about to release their debut self-titled LP due out Feb. 23rd on Sargent House.  Here’s the first single from that album called “Daisy”.
