Levitation Lineup & Tickets 2024

We have long been singing the praises of Levitation Festival as the absolute best music festival in town. The lineup always trends towards things we dig, the venues are mostly killer, and the ease of hopping from venue to venue can’t be beat. Things are going down again in late October/Early November and we are super pumped to share out the stellar lineup with breakdown by day. Once again, the lineup stands out as tops with a little something for everyone – indie stalwarts like The Drums and Death Valley Girls, electronic beats from Tycho and Washed Out, and of course local legends like Black Angels, The Sword and even The Jesus Lizard! Full lineup is over on that fancy poster or via the Levitation 2024 website. It’s sure to be another great time. Tickets are on sale now.

Levitation Artist Death Valley Girls Drop New Video

Just a bit ago, Death Valley Girls dropped their excellent new LP, Darkness Rains, and while they just got back from a stint with the Distillers, they’re making their way across the States again with Crocodiles, stopping in Austin for Levitation Festival. The video fits today perfectly, splicing live footage of the band with horror flicks. But, more importantly, you’ll find the charm of the band in this particular tune. It’s heavy and playfully spooky, but being me, I always gravitate towards the really bright pop moments in their songs, like the semi-angelic seance of a chorus on this one. Just trying to spotlight all the great acts coming to Austin next week, but if you’re not here, check out their LP, available now via Suicide Squeeze Records.

Levitation Announces First Wave Of Lineup–Tickets On Sale Now

Levitation has made all of our days here in Austin with the announcement of the first wave of artists for the 2019 edition of the spectacular festival. We’re no strangers to the festival, as it’s become one of our favorite excuses to run around town seeing incredible bands, both local and national. Now a fall festival (Nov 7-10), we’ll be treated to the likes of Angel Olsen, Kurt Vile & the Violators, Holy Wave, Death Valley Girls, Allah Las, Chelsea Wolfe, Dinosaur Jr., Devendra Banhart, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and so many more. Tickets for individual shows and four day passes are on sale now. I suggest you go scoop some tickets now as this ‘first wave’ announcement is enough to warrant a four day already–get hyped for the fall with their official Spotify playlist below!

Death Valley Girls Give You Retro Garage

unnamedL.A’s Death Valley Girls really have a name that suits their style of music in that they sound like someone zombified some valley girls and then gave them guitars. This track, “Summertime,” has that retro-girl band sound combined with the fuzz and shred of today’s garage rock. The vocals are all kinds of catchy and beg you to scream along with the band through the track. The juxtaposition of the valley girl vocals and the gritty punk quality of the instrumentation give the song some allure that you certainly don’t want to miss out on.
