Location Emos

Tickets $5 @ Ticketweb/$8 @ Door

Looking for plans Friday night?  Well we’ve got a great show going down at Emo’s that night with some great talent from our little city.  The night features ATH favorites from Austin The Calm Blue Sea, My Education, The Clouds Are Ghosts, and Red Falcon.  Every band on the lineup is one that we’ve talked about at some point or another and possibly even given an Artist to Watch tag.  We’re glad to be a part of such a great show on a night that shouldn’t see anyone making excuses not to be there.

Show Pics: Moonface @ Emo’s

Spencer Krug brought his current project to town to play an inside show at Emo’s on a Tuesday night. Moonface can be familiar and foreign to Wolf parade fans. It borders on percussive Electronica at times, smooth keyboard driven poppiness at others. In all, a group of ardent Krugophiles enjoyed themselves. They were even treated to a Moonface’d version of a Swan Lake song to close things out.

Pics and a few more comments about Moonface and the openers, White Dress and Flow Child, after the break.

Show Preview: Ice Age @ Emos

Date Saturday, July 16th
Location Emos
Doors 900p
Tickets $8 at the Door

Everyone’s been raving about the Copenhagen group from the get-go.  P4k loved them, as did pretty much everyone else around the globe, and there’s nothing wrong with that. As the summer heat continues to cover us in sweat, this show could be one of mass relief, allowing us to let go with all the energy we have.  It could be dangerous, it could be beautiful, and regardless, it’s going to be incredible.  You’re not going to want to miss out on this show. You can also catch The Creamers, Women in Prison, and Deskonocidos before Ice Age, so make your get there, and let’s let loose with a fury together.

Show Review: Antlers @ Emos (6/7)

As the heat beats down upon us, it’s always nice to find yourself enthralled in a decent evening of carousing with the locals, especially if said shenanigans include a night filled with incredible musical accompaniment.  I’m pretty sure that’s what all of us got over at Emos on Tuesday night, with Antlers and Little Scream giving us just what we needed.

Well, we all know about the ride of fame that the Antlers have been on for the last few years, and their latest release, Burst Apart, has gotten acclaim all over the place, including from us.  Now, with the summer season upon us, it’s probably pretty important that we get in as many incredible shows before the heat bogs us down, so you need to make it out, ya hear? And, yet another reason to make it out is the opening act, Little Scream.  It’s rare to come across delicately crafted music accompanied by a truly inspiring vocalist, and such is the case with LS, who you must make it out to see. Come on, every one’s going to be there, and we can’t afford to be left out.

Show Preview: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. @ Emos (5.28)

Date Saturday, May 28th
Location Emos
Doors 900p
Tickets $12 from Ticketweb

One of the hottest tickets in town this weekend has to be this excellent show over at Emos on Saturday night.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is a hihgly respected act, winning accolades for music both recorded and live.  Then, you have the killer punch in my personal opinion, as Generationals are opening up.  These guys are probably one of my favorite indie pop bands, period. Their songs are catchy, and they always kill it live. Oh, and if that wasn’t good enough, the always excellent Austin band, Sleep Good, will be opening the whole evening.  You have no reason not to make it out to Emos on Saturday.

It’s a busy night in Austin on Thursday and you music fans are going to have some tough choices to make about which show you plan to attend.  In the running obviously for us is a show at Emo’s by rock n rollers Titus Andronicus.  Sure the band played there pretty recently, but you can always bet on a high energy packed show from these guys.  Opening support for the evening is provided by our very own Austin friends Midgetmen and Cartright.

Tickets $14 from Ticketweb

Austinites get ready for one crazy music-filled week.  We know this week could get expensive, but we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t point you in the right direction, and that, dear reader, is towards YACHT.  Sure, Jona’s been making music with all sorts of people, my favorite being The Blow, but now that he’s focused on YACHT full-time, he’s hitting his stride. The duo will be embarking on their Road to Utopia tour, and Austin is one of the earlier dates. This bill also features Bobby Birdman and Love Inks, so we’re counting on you to hit up Emos and have a blast with this electronically-influenced evening. If you’re going to do it up this week, may as well get started here folks.
