Abdomen Share Yes I Don’t Know Single

There’s very little out there about Dutch trio Abdomen, but I’ve been really fascinated by their sound as I continue to crank up the volume. A sneaky start of snapping snare soon opens up to stabbing strokes on the guitar; there’s an ominous feel with another layer working beneath, building this sort of industrial fusion with post-punk vibes. When the vocals enter, they’re sort of muted, as if they’re just echoing from down the hall. Blasts of noise are a warning sign of what’s to come, increasing the tension as the drums join in and the song begins to embrace its own danger. Fucking cool as hell, and a glimpse at what’s to come on their debut album, which will drop via FatCat Records in February.

Holiday Ghosts Share Favourite Freak Single

As a fan of good old fashioned indiepop, I will admit that every time I get a new single from Holiday Ghosts, I get a a little overexcited. Listening here, you can hear exactly why as they’re executing the tried-and-true pop sound; the guitars jangle in the right spots, though with this circular rotation that matches up with the thumping drums. But, you couldn’t have a great pop song if the melodies and vocal harmonies didn’t intertwine as they do in this single below here; it sort of just gets stuck inside your head and begs you to, begging for you to throw down a few dollars and pick up the band’s new album Absolute Reality, out on April 21st via FatCat Records.

Holiday Ghosts Share Vulture Video + Announce LP

Much lauded UK outfit Holiday Ghosts have announced their brand new LP, and with that, the signing to FatCat Records. This fresh single is perfect for my tastes, it has this driving cinematic rhythm you might in a Tarantino movie, but the guitars and dancing and jangling all about like their at some classic indiepop show. Plus, I’m a sucker when bands employ dual vocals running out the same lyrics; it really makes it feel like the song’s are truly a group effort, and a joyous effort at that. Vulture is the first listen to what sounds to be a really promising LP; Absolute Reality will drop on April 21st.

Breathe Panel Share Spring Single

Since they released their debut LP in 2018, Breathe Panel have mostly been quiet…until today. They return with this softened brand of guitar pop; utilizing comforting melodies and the faintest of jangling guitars for their charm offensive. I love how everything in this song, from the video to the name to the style all seem to tie into one great release; the colors change outside the window as the trees blow ever so gently in the wind…exactly as that’s happening outside our own window. This is a pop tune at its very purest, asking for little more than three minutes of your time today; it will surely be time well worth it.

Grunge Rocker From Honeyblood

13641310_1320494084647185_1046652868248833915_oGlasgow’s Honeyblood are coming around to releasing their second LP in alittle more than amonth, and just to build your anticipation for that album, they’ve given you a second single. “Sea Hearts” is a rambunctious rocker, which you can pick up on pretty much immediately after the fuzzy guitars sound off in the first few seconds of the song. The vocals are hazy and biting, matching the tone of the guitar, but it’s not too fuzzy or distorted to keep you from belting along with the group as they do some chants towards the end of the track. Take a listen.

Babes Never Die is out October 28th via FatCat Records.

Shopping Are Back With Another Album!!!

shopping

After the release of their great first record, Consumer Complaints, it brings me great pleasure to announce that Shopping are returning with a sophomore record called Why Choose on FatCat Records this coming October 2nd. With this news they’ve also given us a taste of what’s to come on this new record with, “Why Wait” that’s below for your ears. Like we’ve heard from Shopping before, you get the super crisp angular electric guitar work that cuts through the track sharply and up-tempo drums that seem to speed impossibly up as the song progresses. It’s a song that will certainly get you dancing. Get your Pre-Order on here.

New Jamz From Mazes

6092

Mazes is a band that we posted about a couple years ago and haven’t really heard much from since that point.  Today the band reached out to let us know they have a new album Ores & Minerals that just dropped last week on FatCat Records (available for purchase here).  To get you interested in that release, the band sent us over this new song “Skulking” which can be streamed and downloaded below.  The song is a great garage rock, lo-fi song that has one of the most badass, crazy amplified guitar solos around the 2:50 mark.  That alone makes the song a keeper for me.
