CFM Churns Out More Tunes

Charles Moothart is one busy ass guy right? He spends time recording and performing with Mikal Cronin,Ty Segall and all of their many projects. Somehow he finds time between all those projects to churn out tons of quality hits via his solo project CFM. It seems like only a few short months ago he dropped an EP on our ears, and now he’s offering up more songs to preview his upcoming full release. The new track is called “Voyeurs” and is one big long jam full of guitar noodling, trippy electric guitar, and many other small nuances you might find interesting. Check it out.

Dichotomy Desaturated is coming on April 7th via In the Red Records.

Meatbodies Announce New Album

meatbodies-credit-ada-rajkovic-copy-2Seven degrees of Ty Segall continues with Fuzz‘s Chad Ubovich announcing his latest Meatbodies release, Alice…said to be a concept album. While some of the guitar work has the heavy distorted hand, I think it’s spun in such a way that this tune has more of an accessible groove to it. Guitar’s knife through the background, but the vocals have this tone that bursts through brightly, clearing out room for one helluva jam. Alice will be released via In the Red Records next year, and it’ll definitely bring something we’ll all be looking at with anticipation.

Charles Moothart Brings New Rocker

charlesCharles Moothart is probably most well-known out there as the guy working with Ty on Fuzz, and it should come as no surprise that his newest tune is just as rocking as everything his friend as put out, if not more so in regards to the later releases. It opens quick and powerful, blasting riffs through your speaker like nobody’s business, but where Moothart excels is just letting things go…as he does just after the 1.40 mark as he breaks it down into a wailing wall of a jam. You’ll hear this new burner on his new EP, Homegrown Paranoia, which comes out via In the Red Records in November.

GOGGS Should Come As No Surprise

goggsReally, the music being pumped out of your speakers should come as no surprise at all to you, especially if you love Ty Segall and Ex-Cult. Both of those bands have had really successful careers, especially in the last few years. Ty and Chris Shaw, along with Charles from Fuzz, have created GOGGS, and it’s every bit a rocker as you would expect from a band comprising the three. It’s heavy on the riffs, with Shaw’s snotty growl pummeling your ears in a manner that very few can pull off. In a week where a majority of the tunes have been pretty calm, this rocker is a much need respite. Look for the debut single from the group to hit in November via In the Red Records.

Melt Your Face With Two New Songs From Fuzz

fuzzLook, I’m not here to tell you how to live you life, but when it’s halfway through the work week and you’re dragging along, one thing that always refreshes me is some good old fashion face melting rock and roll. Fuzz, another outfit from Ty Segall and company, are here to aid in that refreshing process with the announcement of their second full length album called II, and with the gift of two new tracks from that upcoming record. This new album will be out October 23rd via In The Red Records, and while we await that record, we can taste what’s to come with “Pollinate,” and “Rat Race.” While both of these tracks bring the psychedelic rock and roll to your ears, they do so differently: “Rat Race” is more of a straight up rock track with punk influences, while “Pollinate,” is a grungey psych rock slow burner. I’m digging both, what are your thoughts?

Show Preview: Fuzz @ Red 7 (10.4)

Ty Segall

Date Friday, October 4th
Location Red 7
Doors 9:00 PM
Tickets $10 from Red 7

What? You’re tired of seeing Ty Segall?  Well, you’re in luck, sort of.  His new band, which sort of features members of his touring band, is called Fuzz, and they’ll be blowing down doors at Red 7 on Friday in Austin. Sure, the town will be buzzing with ACL highlights and stories, but there’s not going to be a better show that what’s going on.  It’s going to be loud and crunchy and sweaty, all of which we love; they’ll be supporting the release of their debut self-titled record that came out this week.  There’s a reason that Ty brings such a crowd to his shows; they’re just a joy to watch, especially when he’s throwing his guitar about, bringing noise our way.  Opening the night will be CCR Headcleaner.

Slow Rocker from Fuzz

fuzzThose of you who’ve been on the Ty Segall rock n’ roll bandwagon have to love what you’re hearing from his latest project, Fuzz.  He’s teamed up with a couple of friends (one who’s in his regular band) to bring a shredding, noise filled act to your ears.  On the latest single from Fuzz, the slow building tune gradually makes its way, erupting into a wall of noise at the chorus.  I actually really dig the mellower moments on this tune, offering us a look at the softer-side Segall’s been brandishing of late…but dammit if that’s not a chorus for the ages.  In the Red Records will be releasing this self-titled album on October 1st.  He’ll also be in Austin on the 4th.

New Fuzz Rock From Zen Mystery Fogg

kingfisherAs many of you know, I have been recovering from a birthday extravaganza over the weekend so my posts have been few and far between.  Well I’m getting back into the game with a tasty little fuzz rock number called “Raccoon” coming your way from newer band Zen Mystery Fogg.  It’s definitely a fuzz rock song that has a a rougher edge to it that is putting me in a badass mood on this Tuesday.  Oh and if you don’t know what a badass mood is, well you’ve never lived my friend.

This song will appear on a 7″ single from the band coming your way on Vancouver based Kingfisher Bluez label.
