Groove to the Beat of Kisses

kissesI feel like somewhere I gravitated away from dance music in the last few years. I hit it hard for awhile, then I sort of went the opposite direction again; it’s the cycle of my musical life. Anyways, I can definitely hear remnants of the 00s dance greats like LCD Soundsystem and !!! in the groove crafted by Kisses on this new track. It’s about as funky as anything they’ve done (that might be the reason for the title “Jam”), and it doesn’t hurt that they’re tossing out names like Talking Heads and Orange Juice in all the press literature. Wanna get down today? Wanna get down on October 9th? Then check out their new effort, Rest in Paradise.

Get Down With Kisses

1834

It’s rare that I get into the dance/electronic side of things on ATH, so you know when I do, it has to be a jam.  Kisses are band that we’ve posted about in the past due to their catchy dance tracks, and this new grooving beat called “Huddle” is no different.  You’ll definitely here an 80s dance floor influence mixed in with some high pitched vocals that combine to get your ass moving even if you’re sitting at work.

Sophomore album Kids in L.A. hits stores on May 14th via Cascine Records.

New Club Hit from Kisses

Okay, maybe we’re about 24 hours late on this, but I absolutely loved Kisses old jam, “Bermuda,” and I think this new track surpasses it, so I’ve got to share it with you in case you missed out. I love the groove that pulses throughout the track, thus the name of the track referencing a heartbeat.  But, it still has a little bit of sunny cool that rubs you just the right way. This new single doesn’t appear to have a release date, or be associated with any release in particular, so do yourself and pick up their pretty rocking The Heart of the Nightlife from a few years back.

New Music from Kisses

We premiered “Bermuda,” the debut single from Kisses earlier this year, but now we want to bring you another great track from the band.  This jam is a little bit more of a mellow club banger, but it’s got this understated little bubbly bass popping in the background.  Personally, the vocals are pretty groovy–sort of up my alley. All this is in preparation for their release, The Heart of the Nightlife, which comes out in stores on November 16th.  We have a feeling that a lot of people will be slowly getting behind this as we get closer to the release date.

New Tunes from KISSES

It’s been sort of a rock revival around our offices lately, but let’s not forget, we like to throw down on the dance floor too!  We’ve got a new jam for you today, which really sounds a lot like Hercules and the Love Affair, only the vocals atop the disco beats sound more akin to Jens Lekman.  It’s that particular warm vocal that is destined to win KISSES loads of fans when they release their debut Bermuda on April 27th.  Hope you enjoy this little number, and remember boys and girls, it’s okay to shake it at the office sometimes.
