Walter Etc. Offer Up Slick New Track

Those in the mood for some slacker style rock this morning need look no further than this new single “April 41st” from L.A. based Walter Etc. It reminds me a lot of an old school Weezer song with a carefree, almost lackadaisical feel about it. Could be a great song for driving around on a summer day or for your next BBQ playlist. Check it out below.

This track appears on an upcoming album entitled Gloom Cruise which is out August 25th on vinyl via Lauren Records/Lame-O Records and on cassette via Making New Enemies.

New Single & Video From Dent May

What’s left for us to say about Los Angeles based Dent May? He seems like one of the “ATH originals” who has received tons of coverage since our simple beginnings 10 years ago. His music has consistently been some of the best in the indie pop genre during that time. Today I’m pleased to share with you his latest single with accompanying video entitled “Picture on a Screen”. The song just sounds like Dent May right? No one else can create such a smooth, bright and full yet simple sound like he can.

Dent will release new album Across the Multiverse on August 18th via Carpark Records.

Banger From MOON

moon-photo-1I’m fairly certain that this single called “We’re So Close” from Los Angeles based MOON came out quite a long time ago, but it’s never been posted on ATH and it needs to be recorded that we approve. From the first time hitting play, you’ll realize you are in for a banger of a track. It hits pretty hard when transitioning from the softer verses into the rocking chorus complete with power chording guitars and rising vocals. Coming soon to a festival in your town!

Popping New Track From Orchin

unnamed-2Man I was enjoying my Friday quite a bit already, and then a song like this hits my inbox in the morning and the day just gets better. This one is called “If I Ever” and comes by way of L.A. based songwriter Jeremy McLennan, or Orchin, as his project is known. Seriously, I’ve played the song 3 times straight and it’s the best thing I’ve heard in a very long time. The musicianship and production are both incredibly tight here. It’s sort of like War on Drugs and Tame Impala, but also with a little bit of a dreamy feel to bring in that pop goodness. Press play. Now.

This track is part of a digital single which came out a couple of weeks ago. Check out a-side “One” right here.

Psych Out With Walter

unnamedLos Angeles based band Walter create their very own style of psychedelic music with some throwback tendencies and heavily distorted guitars. Have yourself a taste of that irresistible sound with this latest single entitled “Poetics of Space”. It may take you a little while for this one to grow on you, but I can assure you the droning and heaviness will eventually grow on you with each and every listen.

This track is part of a new 7″ single due out on July 1st via Famous Class.

Some Americana From Wilderado

wilderadoHopefully all of us have recovered from a wet weekend and are ready for a week of heat and new music. Kick starting this week off right is this new song entitled “Wheat” from L.A. based up and comers Wilderado. This one is for fans of bands like Fruit Bats or maybe even some of the poppier sides of Dr. Dog. It’s a driving track with a great chant along chorus that’s sure to cheer up your Monday blues.

Wilderado will release their new EP Latigo on July 22nd via IAMSOUND Records.

Power-Pop From Susan

1460418387802Man this new jam “I’ve Been Known” by Los Angeles based trio Susan has really been giving me some motivation over the last 24 hours. I’m loving that it starts super slow and dupes us into thinking it’s some type of slow melodic jam, but then boom yeah, things really take off. Rather than me ruining it with more descriptors and comparisons, I’d say you’d best be served by hitting play right now and enjoying this gem for yourself.

Susan will drop Never EnoughOn April 29th via Volar Records.

Dreamy Pop from Crescendo

crescendoI’m really intrigued by the sound that Crescendo is bringing to the table. They’re utilizing the common tropes of fighting guitar with a hazy vocal, often accompanied by a light female vocal accompaniment. But, what’s intriguing me is that the voice sounds like Dan Bejar from Destroyer, and yet, it works quite successfully. I’ve been listening to the band’s new effort, Unless, and I have to say that there’s not a single bad song in the mix. I’m thinking those of you looking for hits from the dream pop/indiepop/shoegaze realm will find this whole listen enchanting. It’s out now via We Were Never Boring.

Enjoy This New Tune by The Bulls

10444002_464584560343471_4365437836699531453_nEarlier this year I discovered L.A. based The Bulls and what proved to bea stellar EP entitledSmall Problems. Since that time, I’ve been eagerly awaiting what to expect from the ladies and today I was surprised with this new single “Prudence”. Imagine if you will that somehow Cults and Young Galaxy had a baby together and that’s about what you’d be hearing here. To weird? Hit play then and make your own comparisons.

“Prudence” is part of a digital single due out on January 15th via Diet Pink Records. Pre-order here.

Driving New Single From WYLDR

unnamed (2)Though I know very little about up and coming L.A. based outfit WYLDR, I do know that their new single “Savage” is a hit.  It’s a driving, anthem style pop-rock tune full of synths and catchy beats to boot.  Sure it’s a little bit on the sappy side, but I think most of us can get behind their sentiment from time to time.

The Gypsy Queen EP will drop on December 1st.
