More From Jay Arner

unnamedOnly last month we heard a great new song from Jay Arner’s second effort as a solo musician. Well today we are treated to this new song, “Like a Dracula”, which is another delightful song from thatupcoming record. Jay could easily be compared to a guy like Mac Demarco but with more synth and a bit of a dance vibe to his music. I think you’ll find this one just as catchy as the last one.

Jay IIis out on June 17th via Mint Records.

Another Bouncy Tune from Supermoon

supermoonWhile there might be an indiepop pedigree within the confines of Supermoon, it doesn’t seem like the band’s settling to live on their past histories. Their latest single from their forthcoming Mint Records release has a certain bounce that recalls acts like La Luz, though with only a slight hint of the psychedelic elements in there. It’s more like a catchy little shuffle you heard in early R&B groups that never left your head. Their double 7″ Playland comes out on May 20th.

Supermoon and Soft Pop

supermoonSupermoon are going to be the next big thing, at least in my listening rotation. In fact, knowing that the members were part of Pups (which featured Rose Melberg) makes this all the more enticing. The Vancouver group has signed on to work with Mint Records, fresh off the back of their Comet Lovejoy EP. Our first listen to one of the track off their forthcoming double 7″ is as playful and carefully crafted as the best pop music can be. There’s a sincerity that’s often overlooked, with guitar chords seemingly picked with the greatest care. Look for their new Playland 7″ on May 20th.

New Jay Arner Tune

jayOkay, so perhaps I’ve been going a little post crazy this week, but there’s just been so much great pop music that I can’t turn my head away; I can’t stop posting it! My latest joy has been this great Jay Arner tune, off his forthcoming album, Jay II. Interestingly, some of it sounds like the dark synths of Blank Dogs, but other times, there’s just this simple infectious hook that plays through your mind over and over again. This new record will hit just in time for your summer pool parties on June 17th via Mint Records.

Sweet Pop from Faith Healer

gottahavefaithThis song’s been floating around for a few days, and I hope you’ve had some time to digest it, but if not, I’ll give you that opportunity once again.  For starters, there’s only a certain sort of person that can pull this off, and my hats off to Faith Healer.  I haven’t come across this sort of indiepop in some time, offering such a strong sound filled with varying parts while still holding true to the style itself.  You could say it sounds huge, and that’s not your everyday indiepop fare, so look for Cosmic Troubles to come your way on March 31st via Mint Records.

Pop Gem From Monomyth

monomythSometimes when you hear a great pop song, your ears perk up and you’ve just got to share it with the public.  This sweet lil’ number comes from Halifax based Monomyth and is called “Something Else”.  I find myself enjoying the breezy, pop feel to this one.  Who can resist such temptation?

New album, Saturnalia Regalia, is due out on July 22nd via Mint Records.

New 80’s Surf Rock From Jay Arner

jay_arner_coverJay Arner is a guy who has paid his dues in the indie world under a multitude of monikers and many many roles.  He’s now taking his musical venture into the solo game with a self-titled debut album due to drop on June 25th via Mint Records.  First taste of the new material “Midnight on South Granville” is found below and conveys a message of 80s synths mixed with surf rock guitars.  I’m excited about the new solo album.
