the mary onettesRiding high on the great press they received over their self-titled debut and their most recent Dare EP, The Mary Onettes are slated to take on the world.  Their newest number is a little bit more straightforward than their previous efforts, though it still shines through with a glimpse into the past.  This song, “Puzzles,” will be on the band’s new album Islands, which is scheduled to arrive in America on November 3rd.

New Tunes from Kings of Convenience

kings_of_convenience_bTime is nearing for the arrival of the soft-spoken Kings of Convenience album Declaration of Dependence.  Said album comes ashore on October 20th, though you can get the latest single “Mrs. Cold” if you search around the world.  The song we have here for you is off the “Mrs. Cold” single, and also appears on the band’s upcoming record.  We’re excited for this, as you should be too!

The EP features three brand new tracks for those of you that had the debut, but if not, there are 6 brand spanking new songs, one being that sweet tune “Let’s Go Surfing.”  But, now we have a new number for you, this one featuring an adorable female vocal with that bouncing bass line the band utilize so well. raveAs the new album In and Out of Control by The Raveonettes draws closer to its October 6th release date, more and more tracks begin to hit the Internet.  “Last Dance,” hitting today is surely one of the highlights for what is shaping up to be a great album.  I’ll admit, I’ve been a half-hearted fan for awhile, but after hearing the clever-pop goodness here, reminiscent of a female fronted Pains of Being Pure at Heart, I’m sincerely stoked.

From The Closet: The Rise

theriseShutdown this assembly line quality!  Oh how we love and miss old Austin band The Rise. During the fall of The Refused, we needed something to come destroy the Austin music scene as a whole.  The Rise were the band that did it, infusing their electronic beats with a touch of hardcore and rioting live shows.  While on the scene, they quickly built a solid following here in town, and gaining fans all over the world. Unfortunately, real life got in the way, and the group disbanded, with bassist Danny being the only one going on to make musical waves as a member of Trail of Dead. Also, if it was you that stole their equipment long ago, please return it. We miss you The Rise, and would gladly be willing to put together your reunion show.

New Tunes from Lucero

luceroMemphis group Lucero have a new album coming out this October titled 1372 Overton Park, and they’ve slowly been seeing their tunes pop up all over the net. Singer, Ben, sounded great at Fun Fun Fun Fest last year, and he’ll be bring his whole group down there this year.  Expect the album, and the ensuing tour, to be phenomenal.
