Impressive Number From Muzz

Muzz is the brand new project from friends and musicians Paul Banks (Interpol), Josh Kaufman (Bonny Light Horseman), and Matt Barrick (drummer for The Walkmen). These guys have known each other quite a long time, have made some music together in the past, and have finally decided to share their collaboration with the world. A taste of this new project can be found in this new dark, haunting new single called “Red Western Sky”. It features a brooding, folk inspired sound conjuring up images of dusty saloons and dark bars. This is the third single coming after previously released “Broken Tambourine” and “Bad Feeling”.

Muzz will release their self-titled debut on June 5th via Matador Records.

FFF 2012: Saturday In Pictures

Ahhh. Home, sweet home. Back on the pit to bring you nine kinds of performance shots.

Saturday’s shots include Residual Kid, The Young, Gold Fields, Brendan Benson, Daughn Gibson, The Helio Sequence, Braid, The Spits, Surfer Blood, Tanlines, Paul Banks, Real Estate, Wavves and PiL. More from around the fest, of course. Fun was had by all, just bummed that I missed shooting Refused from the pit. It was “too busy”.

New Tunes from Julian Plenti

jpJulian Plenti is the new name for Interpol frontman Paul Banks. He is set to debut his new album Julian Plenti is…Skyscraper on August 4th via Matador Records. I wonder if it will be in the realm of people like Albert Hammond Jr and be an Interpol lite album?  Based on this track, it seems JP is going off on his own a bit, which is a good thing in our book.
