Nueva Cancion from Fantasmamidi

I get that the language barrier makes the average pop fan turn away from the non-Anglophiles, but you’re missing out if you haven’t jammed to Fantasmamidi; I absolutely to listen to their self titled LP (HERE) and tell me you don’t love it. None of that really matters at the moment, as I want to turn my attention towards the band’s latest single off the forthcoming Letargo. Not to jump to conclusions, but the word translates to lethargy, which seems to have a sonic impact on this single; it’s far slower than the previous fare, though equally as special. The guitar lines have these deep tones that are accented by these sparkling electronic notes. In the vocals you have this solemn delivery, sort of like looking back with fondness on the band’s early sound. Looks like the new LP will be handled by the great Discos de Kirlian.

Sprinters Share Video for Missing

RayRay and I have both been pretty high upon the forthcoming album from Sprinters, but before the band drop Struck Gold this Friday, they wanted to be sure you had one more reason to grab the LP. “Missing” is one of the record’s standouts, fueled by the perfect juxtaposition between too-cool-for-school vocals and enthusiastic guitar fuzz; it all gels so perfectly that in the end, you’ll find they’ve crafted the perfect sentiment in one tight little pop number. The accompanying video is great, especially for US audiences who might not get the chance to catch the Manchester band too often; they’re clearly enjoying playing together here. Nostalgic Pop from Black Beach Baby

Sweden’s Black Beach Baby only have a handful of releases to their name, but I’m hoping the nostalgic sound catches some of your ears. I think the guitars might be a slight bit soft in their presentation, which initially has that jangling pop turn that keeps your coming back for repeated spins. But, in the end, the dream quality of the vocals allows for listeners to latch onto a different emotional sentiment, ultimately keeping you around for even longer. This works in the band’s favor, as they unleash a marvelous chorus that definitely had me hoping I’d hear more real soon. Time will tell, so let’s just enjoy this ditty, shall we?

New Music from Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes

There’s a lot of incredible pop music coming out of Stockholm, but for me, Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes have been high upon my radar of rising stars. They’ve been popping up in the last few months with new tunes after taking a brief break from making magic; our sources have told us a full-length is lurking out there for 2020. This new tune’s full of bold pop sensibility; they toy with you almost the entire way through the track, building tension with these ringing guitars and soaring vocals. The song’s hook comes by way of the “ooh ooh oohoo” in the chorus; you’ll be hooked on the undeniably catchiness, I swear. This single’s available courtesy of Rama Lama Records.

Seazoo Drop Brand New Pop Track

You ever have one of those bands you wish people understood the way you did? You whisper their name in every one’s ears, but in the end, you’re also totally cool to just adore the band on your own? Well, I’ve been pushing Seazoo on ya’ll since Trunks, and with a new album slated for Spring of 2020 you can bet that I’m already pushing that hype train. I love how the guitars on this new single have a slight bit of scuzzy shuffle, kind of like some of the stuff from Grandaddy. And, much like that outfit, the band are spinning this into a bright pop hit; I’m absolutely head over heels for the chorus on this number. I’m going to keep encouraging ya’ll to get on this…as they’re one of the more delightful pop acts kicking about.

Calico Blue Share Billy

I’m always up for a good ditty, especially one that comes dancing in with these hook-laden guitar riffs like the latest from Calico Blue. Sarah Addi’s vocals also have this belting nature, just soaring above the entire mix to grab the listener. In previous releases the group have gravitated towards bedroom/dream pop, and while I can still hear faints here and there, this one definitely feels much more pronounced, almost aiming to be playful. I liked the little breakdown at the end too, sort of stomping their way to an exhausted close. You can give a listen below if you want to catch onto this bunch.

Catchy Pop Number From Sir Bobby Jukebox

Though you may not know the name, Brisbane based Sir Bobby Jukebox, is definitely a guy you know us or from other music sites. Most of his time has been spent with his ATH approved band No Monster Club, be he’s also spent time with Grand Pocket Orchestra and Paddy Hanna. Basically, the dude is busy. Well now the magical music man is stepping out on his own with his first music as a completely solo musician. He’s offered this song “You Only Dance” as a preview for what he’s been working on and I’m immediately drawn into the catchy as hell beats and fun vibe. Though it clocks in at over 7 minutes, you will be finding yourself sucked in and engaged for the tracks entirety.

Elctro-Pop Hit From Thirdcurl

Thirdcurl is a Danish band fronted and creatively run by Gabriel Johnson. His music is certainly electronic pop music with influences being clear homages to bands like LCD Soundsystem, Twin Shadow, and even The Cure. Our first taste of music from this new artist comes from this single “Ordinary Life” which features a melding of all the bands previously mentioned. It’s an epic number of electronic pop focus with catchy beats and expertly timed vocal deliveries.

Stream Emma Russack and Lachlan Denton’s New LP

Monday’s are generally pretty slow, and while I’m looking over last week, there’s really only one thing that needs to be said; you need to listen to Emma Russack & Lachlan Denton‘s new LP, Take the Reigns. I could easily walk you through the whole record and all my favorite moments. For instance, go to “Help,” and wait for the beautiful uptick at the 1:18 mark. Maybe you’ll enjoy the stomp of Emma’s performance on “Letting Go,” which admittedly caught me by surprise. You can always come back to the joy of “Catch,” but when you do, you undoubtedly realize you’re going to keep coming back to this whole record time and time again. I dare you to find me a great pop album than this right here.

Have Another From JW Francis

After my compadres both shared some tuneage from New York based JW Francis over the last several months, I felt it was my turn to get in on the hype. Today we have this new song called “Lofi” which is a lovely bit of guitar pop music similar to a guy like Albert Hammond Jr. in his earlier solo days. What draws me in here is the infectious, breezy sound that is super easy to fall head over heals into. Now having shared three songs from Francis, I think it’s safe to say he’s ATH approved.
