Painted Palms Give Us a Hit

Painted Palms has given us so many hits over the last couple of years it’s hard to believe the band has even more sweet jams to give.  Today comes news of an upcoming album and the release of yet another one of those great songs I was just mentioning.  This one is called “Disintegrate” and is surely a song that will make your weekend, or even summer, good times playlist.  I’m already dropping it into mine.  Carry on.

New album, Horizons, is due out on September 4th via Polyvinyl Records.

Teaser Pony Offer New 7″

teaserFelt like it’s been a wee bit since I checked in on the goings-on in Australia, so I was really pleased to come across this new EP from Melbourne’s Teaser Pony. It’s got this casual pop attitude, sometimes energetic, while other times completely relaxed.  Their debut EP has a lot of promise going forward, leaving room for the band to move in multiple directions; “Champion Fullback” has a power-pop feel, while “I.D.K.E.W.Y.S.F.N.” has a Spoon-ish stomp to them. You can grab your own copy from Cinnamon Records in the first few weeks of June.

Gem From Paul Bergmann

1457530_552370428228320_4657213407371074694_nMan I have been enjoying this new Paul Bergmann tune most of the evening and wanted to send it your way on this fine hump day.  The track, “Old Dream”, is a true songwriter’s gem in the vein of old Tallest Man or even up and comer Andrew St. James.  It’s truly a special number.

Paul currently has a 7″ single with this track and one other out now on Fairax Recordings.

Even More From Eternal Summers

It’s clearly no secret at this point, ATH has a love affair with Eternal Summers.  The pop tunes with that little bit of rawness around the edges creates some truly special moments for the band.  As the release date for their new album draws ever closer, let’s get in one more single to preview the material.  This one is called “Come Alive”.  Enjoy and happy Monday.

Don’t forget to pick up Gold and Stone out June 2nd on Kanine Records.

White Reaper Kill it Again

untitledMan White Reaper just seem to continually fly a little under the radar despite their stellar rock tunes.  We raved about the band last year after the release of a self-titled EP full of punk rock inspired sounds, catchy hooks, and loud guitars.  Nathan already shared with you new single “Make Me Wanna Die” back in April, and I’m pleased today to bring you new single “I Don’t Think She Cares”.  Let’s put it this way, if your Monday is dragging a little bit, spin this song a few times and all will be right in the world.

Don’t forget that new album White Reaper Does it Again is due out on July 17th via Polyvinyl.

ATX Spotlight: New Yuma Tune + Show Preview

11054385_1069905849688762_5689455370238310354_oLooks like this year’s going to be a great one for Yuma. The band has already released one new track, with this fresh number sure to stop you in your tracks.  “Loglo” is the name of the tune, and it’s likely to be one of the best pop tracks to come out of Austin this year.  You’ll hear a nice groove crafting a playful atmosphere, and the vocals add to that effect, making it the perfect jam for your pre-summer parties.  To celebrate the release of this new single, which you can grab HERE,  the band will be playing an incredible show at Blackheart on Saturday night.  Care Package (members of Borrisokane) opens the night, followed by Rose Selavy, Yuma and then Ramesh.  If you’re not planning on being at Levitation, this is the best possible show you can attend on Saturday night; we’re happy to be a part of it.

Jigsaw Records to Release Plastic Bubble LP

bigI think you’re really going to enjoy spending some time with the latest Plastic Bubble LP. Jigsaw Records has just released the band’s Big Day Parade, which has 20 songs of hooks for pop lovers.  It reminds me of a less orchestrated version of Cats on Fire, bringing in ringing guitar sounds, some added flare and a heavy dose of warm melody.   You can press play and take yourself on a journey of great pop music, and that’s probably the best way to spend your Monday.  It’s available now, with the digital version also being offered up by the band. Get on it.

Impressive New Track From Mr. Gnome

TUpload_SxSW2012_Days_2012_03_14-12_29_32o put it bluntly, Mr. Gnome lost me a little bit with some of their new material after a promising beginning to their career.  That said, this new song “Sleepwalker” is yet again delivering on what I originally found interesting about the group.  It starts off a little slow, and then builds and grows into this impressively mesmerizing pop themed number.  Give it a whirl and treat yo self.

Mr. Gnome will be releasing this track on a new 7″ coming out June 16th.  Pre-order here.

Playful Pop from Summer Fiction

summerThere’s a playful quality that comes with the simplicity of the new Summer Fiction tune.  It reeks of early Dent May, which isn’t a bad thing, mind you, as we raved about that release.  The focus is surely on the vocal delivery, with a light bit of piano and percussion backing things the entire way through. It bodes well for the Mancunian songwriter and his new effort, which will probably offer tracks just as playful as the one that follows below.  Look for Himalaya to be released on June 16th; should be something worthy of spending time with during the summer twilight hours.

Crepes Bring Some Pop Rock

hahahahahWhile Melbourne, Australia has birthed the continuous pop genre of late, it’s mostly been focused on the lo-fi blend of the genre.  While the lads in Crepes definitely make a nod towards that direction, they wrap up their songs in a different blend, bringing the focus towards the listener’s connection with the vocals, definitely elevating this tune beyond the modern slacker-pop of the Australian city.  You’ll be able to find this tune and a few others on the band’s new EP, Cold Summers, which hits later this year.
