Sleek and Dreamy Synthpop from Radiation City

If you’re looking for a track that’s going to slowly embed itself into your mind and make you listen to it all day, then look no further. Radiation City, a five piece out of Portland, have just the right track for you to get lost in. This song, “Juicy,” lives up to its name quite well– the synths and guitars melt together into a swirling dreamscape of sound. The vocals are are just the right amount of sweetness to combine with this dreamy texture and double up on the ethereal nature of the song. This group has just signed to Polyvinyl Records, so you can bet we’re about to hear more good things from them. Take a listen to the track below and get lost in its lushness.

Jackson Boone Sounds Cool

boonSometimes you come across something and it immediately stands out.  Case in point, Jackson Boone, who’s got this deep entrancing voice that drew me in as soon as things lifted off. Still, a voice alone rarely carries a song, so Boone’s got sweeping strings that allow for a dark pop sensibility to creep into the track, almost as if it’s a haunting from the caverns of 60s pop music.  He’s been holed up with members of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Radiation City to create what I dream is a wonderful masterpiece, Natural Changes; it’s set for a release this September.

Interesting Pop From Radiation City

Radiation City is a band that I’ve always found intriguing with a unique take on pop music mixing in elements of jazz and synths into their sounds.  For those new to the band, below is a sample of what I’m getting at with new song “So Long”.  The driving beat throughout plays as a nice backbone to the chanting vocals and swirling keys/synths.  Stick around towards the end as the guitars finally kick in and provide a nice rocking bridge to finish out this beautiful pop tune.

New album Animals in the Median is due out May 21st on Tender Loving Empire.
